Eye makeup, to me this is the holy grail of makeup!  You can wear what ever colors you want not to mention there’s so many colors out there you’ll have fun trying it on.  Matte, metallic, sheer, semi- matte and you can even go all out in glitter.  The endless possibilities of doing up your eyes is an art form itself.  You can keep it simple or go glam, even paint on stars or cartoon characters.  You can even do a bigger, bolder version of the black line and pile on the mascara to give you that sexy, alluring look.  It’s all up to you the artist because there’s no limit to what you can do with eye makeup.

With me, when I started playing with makeup, I started with my eyes.  Since I didn’t have alot of money I started with mascara and black eyeliner and boy did I pile on.  When I entered the beauty industry I got more interested in doing more with my eyes.  And I have big, round brown eyes and I was encouraged by my coworkers to try on eyeshadows.  Apparently having big, round eyes is great in the beauty industry as it shows the makeup well.  And so when I decided to buy my first eyeshadows, I went big!  I went directly to lancome and bought a purple single eye shadow.  I think it was called lustre and but I remember how expensive it was ($21) when I first walked into a work with it on the women I worked with loved the new look.  That’s what solidified me into exploring more shades and  different looks.

Over the years I’ve gone through a lot of different looks, not to mention different shades (remember when orange was the rage?) My look has definitely and thankfully evolved since then.  But I’ve always come back to my simple black line and mascara or swipe on my purple eye shadow, my signature look.  That’s why when I got this palette from Estee lauder I fell in love with it.  So here is my review on this palette.

I’m not one for palettes, especially eye palettes.  I just can never finish them all and it’s so frustrating and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way!  So I do try to be picky when I want to purchase one. And if I finish 4 out of the five colors in the palette I’ll be happy.  That’s why I chose this eye palette because it has my favorite color purple and the other colors are very versatile to work with.

They are soft in color and blend easily into each other.  You can go from a day look, easily apply the dark purple or black and get a beautiful dramatic look.  The black eye shadow in this palette is a very different texture from the rest.  It has a very smooth texture like silk and if you dip your finger into the eye shadow just a bit, the pigments is very easily transferred onto your finger.  You can definitely use it as eye shadow or as an eyeliner.

The two purples are soft and matte, while the white and gray shadows have a soft shimmer to them to add dimension to the eyes.  Overall the shadows for me are soft and muted and I don’t have any eye palette like this in my collection.  I really have enjoyed this palette because it’s a more natural, softer side of purple for me at least! Because right now i have purples that are brighter and shimmery, even glittery. This is my first attempt to look like an adult, at least sometimes.

There really is no reason not to have fun with your eye makeup.  Try every color in the rainbow, play with different looks and be open to different color combinations.  Because remember you can always wipe it off and start over again.  And when you found your signature look, work it girl!  Until next week my beauties have a good week.
