I have been in a bit of a rut with my makeup lately. Usually I splash my face with color. If it’s a swipe of purple eye shadow or a simple red lip or a pink blush, I’m always wearing color on my face. But these days I’m just wearing nude eyeshadows, nude lips and a natural looking blush. Basically everything nude which is perfect for the summer I guess but I always love a little bit of color.
I’ve also been in a rut with my mascara. I haven’t been able to find a mascara that wows me in a longtime. The last time I bought a mascara that really impressed me was about a year and ½ ago when I purchased the paradise mascara from L’oreal. So yeah it’s been awhile but I think I may have just found a mascara fact is giving me positive vibes.
Unfortunately as you get older, your lashes get shorter! They may start falling out more often ‘cause of stress, products you may using and of course age, so when you’re looking for a mascara you want something that’s going to give you basically everything. I wish! But personally for me what I’m looking for now isn’t what I was looking for in my twenties. In my twenties I wanted volume because I had long lashes and if it was the right mascara, I had people ask me if I was wearing false lashes. Now, I’m looking for a mascara that will definitely give me the length that I so badly want but also a little bit of volume to.
Smashbox super fan mascara in black
Have I found the perfect mascara or am I in a rut again? This mascara came out last summer and I just kept putting it off on buying it for whatever reason. So I finally picked it up and because it’s Smashbox, one of my favorite makeup companies and they never let me down so far, why not give it a try finally.
This mascara is supposed to give you volume, length and lift your lashes while giving you 12 hour hold. This mascara has no fragrance or parabens and is definitely cruelty free because all Smashbox Products are cruelty free. The wand tapers on each end while the middle is rounded and fatter. It is supposed to be clump free, smudge free and make your lashes looks longer and thicker without heaviness or flaking off.
I have been using this mascara for the last several weeks and I can finally say that I am not in a rut anymore! It is totally worth the $24.00 because not only does it last on my lashes but it totally gives me volume, length and it doesn’t clump or flake off. And the wand is something that I haven’t seen or used before in the years I’ve used various mascaras and when you’ve used many different mascaras, it’s kind of hard to be surprised.
At first when I started using it, it was not giving me anything. What do I mean by that? I wasn’t seeing much of a difference in my lashes. It wasnt giving me the length, my lashes didn’t look thicker and it only looked like it enhance them by just a bit. But then I waited in between strokes of the mascara so while it dried a little bit but not fully dry, I applied another coat of mascara and BAM! That’s when I started seeing results and I’m glad I waited. It totally changed my lash game and I’ve been loving it ever since.
Smashbox has done it again, at least for me. I don’t think I’ve come across a product from this company that I didn’t love. I definitely would recommend this mascara to anyone who is currently looking for a great mascara.

Tip: if you want more staying power or even more volume and length for your lashes, use a lash primer. That same lash primer can also be used in the evening before going to bed. Apply it on your lashes, wait for it to dry and by doing this, your lashes can be stronger and won’t fall out as much due to stress or other environmental factors.
