makeup kits

I was introduced by this line last summer when two, excited salespeople came in to the store I work at promoting this fun and new makeup line based in California.  They were holding little gray shopping bags that I came to know were filled with makeup!

So as a beauty junkie I couldn’t pass up this amazing deal.  And this pretty grey bag was filled with three makeup kits and cleansing cloths all for $80.  Seriously, who could pass this deal up?  Plus you got a bonus bag as well.  So I got two for the price of one.  Awesome!  I did end up giving the second one away and the cleansing cloths, I ended up using all of them before doing this post.  So today I will be reviewing the three makeup kits.

eyeshadow kit

Neapolitan eye kit

In this cute eye kit there are six sets of trio eyeshadows that can easily go from nudes to glam.  The colors are versatile and obviously you can mix and match.  With the exception of the black/gray/white and the dark brown trio, the pigments are nice enough for a lot of skin tones.  On my skin tone, a lot of the colors are very natural looking.  I would have to put a lot to get them to pop or mix them with other eyes shadows or wear a primer or base that will brighten or deepen the colors.

You definitely have to use a smaller brush or eye sponge applicators that it comes with so you’re not mixing all the colors together.  Unless you want that which is cool.  But the compact itself is super slim and small that you can put it in your make-up bag and forget about it.

mini kit makeup

Purse petit mini

This kit is adorable cute and pretty much perfect for a day trip or a night out on the town with the girls.  In this tiny compact, it holds four lips, four eye colors and two deluxe eyeshadows meant for the smoky eyes.

This is a pretty awesome kit, as the lip colors are great to go from day to night look.  The eyeshadows as well are great for a day to glam look.  The two deluxe eyeshadows I don’t mind as well because I use the beige color as a base for eyes and because it has a bit of a shimmer to it, I use it as a highlighter as well.  I think this compact would have been even better if they put an actual highlighter and blush or bronzer or contour shades instead of the black and beige eyeshadows.  But I guess they were trying to put a compact together so it can be versatile.

Regardless, this compact is super small and easy to put in your small purse, you forget you have it there.  This tiny kit will definitely be very usable and definitely come in handy.

big makeup kit

Weekly essential kit

This kit literally has everything but your foundation.  Let me list what it has.  Six eyeshadows, concealer, blush, three colors for lips, setting powder, lip liner, eyeliner, mascara (not shown) because I used it all and brush and sponge for application.

The concealer, setting powder and blush were too light for me, but everything else in this kit worked out for me.  This kit for me was more a natural look for me.  I do like the idea of having something like this left at home or leave it at work so you have it there for an emergency touch up, but I couldn’t see myself bringing this with me everywhere I go because it is a bit bigger than the other kits.  It would be great for traveling for a few days or sleeping over at your friend’s house so you can minimize what your carrying in your bag.

It’s hard for any makeup company to design a kit that makes everyone happy.  But I’m glad that makeup companies make kits that are just for eyes or lips or eyebrows etc.  Once you start creating a bigger kit, I personally tend to have a hard time choosing something like that.  Because I want to make sure I can use almost everything otherwise it’s a waste of money.  At least for me.  That’s why I will stick to the smaller kits because I know I will use everything.

Until next week thank you for reading and have yourself a great week my beauties!
