You should know by now I love all things lips. Lip balms, lip gloss, lipstick, lip treatments and the elusive lips masks that I have yet to try. But now that the seasons are changing my lips will be getting drier and more chapped unfortunately. So I need 24/7 care on my lips during the fall and winter season. I’m just going to dive right into my reviews of the two lip balms I’ve chosen and hopefully will last through the fall/winter season.
Clarins moisture replenishing lip balm
Clarins is based in France and they take a natural, botanical approach to their skincare which I love because who wants to put chemicals on their face all time? I have used several products from this company before and I’ve loved every one of them.
I have used this lip balm in the past and I am going back to it because it really does moisturizing keep my lips looking plump and healthy looking. This lip balm contains Shea butter and rose walks to really keep lips hydrated and moisturized. It does contain mineral and castor oil which I think they really don’t need as a kind of makes the balm slippery but not sure if that’s the roles wax that’s making it that way as well. It has a soft pinky hue too it but it goes on clear and gives you a semi matte finish. There is a soft rose scent to it but it disappears quickly after application.
I do use it alone or under my lip gloss to give me extra moisture. Because of its moisturizing power it really does keep my lips looking its best all the time. I can even forgive the fact that it is a bit slippery because of its healing powers I am willing to try again.
Maybelline baby lips Dr. Rescue
Remember when these lip balms first came out they were everywhere? I had a couple of these in my makeup drawer, used one and forgot about this one. Now that I have found it it will be used for sure. Here is the details on this one.
The Dr. Rescue is different from the other baby lips lip balm because it is medicated and specifically to help with dry, chapped lips. The reason why it is a different is because it contains menthol and eucalyptus to help soothe and cool lips. Because of these two ingredients it has of fairly strong scent and you do feel a cooling and tingling sensation on your lips. That sensation does go away but the scent of it takes awhile to dissipate. It may not be bothersome to some people, but for me I found it fairly strong and kind of hard to layer other products that may have a scent as well. But the other ingredients such as Shea butter and honey helps to nourish and moisturize the lips.
It does really moisturize my lips and I find it comfortable. Plus the affordability of this lip balm means I can put up with the smell. I just pair it with a lip gloss that doesn’t have a strong scent to it and the added gloss from this balm gives you extra shine with the gloss.
When it comes to anything in beauty whether its $5.00 or $20.00 be open minded and give it a try. You may just have found your next greatest find. I’ll see you next week my beauties!
