I hardly go week without using a facial mask and if I don’t use one, my skin is a little more oily, my pores look larger and I tend to look a little bit more tired. But it’s probably also the fact that I’m getting a little bit older and my skin isn’t what it used to be. But on top of fighting the aging process, being stressed out, diet and overall health (and the times you get a flu or cold) doesn help your skin and if you don’t have a good skincare routine, you definitely see it on your face.
The last couple of years I’ve been experimenting with a hydrating and moisturizing masks and only in the winter time when my skin is a little less dryer (but not much) and I need a boost of hydration. Usually i buy sheet mask for the hydration boost because I can’t commit to a jar of it. The only type of mask in the jar I can commit to is a clay one.
Now you probably think that a clay mask might be too draining on the skin. That it might strip my skin of my oils and might make it feel dehydrated and tight afterwards. And for the most part your right, but as of late there has been clay masks that aren’t irritating or leave your skin feeling like it took too much moisture out of your skin. Recently I’ve come across a face mask that I can still use right now and won’t leave my skin feeling yuck. Read on to find out which one I am currently using.
Nuxe Insta-Masque with Rose and Clay
This mask is one of three that was recently launched from Nuxe and I chose this one because it helps to purify and refresh the skin. They call it their Insta-Masque because it only takes 2 minutes to help matify and minimize pores. There is no parabens, no bad alcohol and no added fragrance to this mask. This is a skincare line that prides itself on using only naturally sourced ingredients. This mask is $30.00 and comes in a 50 ml jar.
The main ingredients are rose water and clay which helps to matify and draw out excess oil and minimize pores. Rose water helps too calm the skin and hydrate. There is also citric acid to help gently exfoliate, almond oil and Shea butter to help balance out the skin and hyaluronic acid that helps too hydrate the skin. With all these ingredients and more to help you maintain your skin, you deftly won’t feel any uncomfortable tightness or dehydration after it is washed off.
My personal opinion on this mask is that it is excellent and perfect for my skin, especially at this time of the year when my skin can be a little tricky. I absolutely do love it and although it says that you can wash off after 2 minutes which I have and it works well. I have left it on for about 10 to 15 minutes and although it does matify and refine my skin, it definitely does not leave my skin dehydrated.
This clay mask is unlike any other clay masks I’ve used in the past. It definitely is gentle and gets the job done. It is easy to put on and it doesn’t drip and there is no annoying scent that lingers on except for that clay scent when you use a clay mask, but if you only use it for 2 minutes, then you’ll be fine.
For me, I use a mask when I’ve had a long day and I just want to relax and unwind. I love using a mask and I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t use one. Whatever your skincare ritual is, it is all yours and yours to figure out what’s best for your skin. Until next week my beauties, have a good day!
Tip: the new trend in using multiple mask on your face at the same time seems good. And if you have combination skin, it might be a good idea. But to avoid any more skincare issues that you might have, using one mask is all you need to keep your skin looking beautiful.
