For the past two years if you have been reading my blog you would know that I love finding the next best lip balm, lip treatments and even lipsticks or glosses that will keep my lips nourished and healthy looking. Spring and summer can be easier on my dry lips vs. the fall and winter time but my lips are chronically dry and if I’d don’t keep them moisturized it can lead to them being chapped and irritated.
In this article I will be doing drugstore Brands and I will break them down in to two or three posts but will definitely talk about two lip products in each one. The reason being is that there have been new lip products that have come out recently and in the last several months that I would really like to try. And since I love trying out new products which all of these are, I can’t wait to review them and hopefully hear from you about what you like as well.
So in this article I will be reviewing two lip oils. What are lip oils? It is like having a lip balm and lip gloss in one product. You get the treatment that you get from a balm and a sheer wash of color with a high gloss finish like the lip gloss. And who doesn’t want to condense their beauty routine and still look great? Read on to find out more about the two lip oils that I am reviewing in this article.
Rimmel lip oil Oh My Gloss!
This lip oil comes in five shades but don’t worry about the shades too much because they are very sheer. But it does give you a high shine, supposed to be non greasy and non sticky and feel very comfortable on the lips. Plus it has four different oils to help nourish and comfort the lips. You can either wear this alone or on top of your favorite lip product. The cost of this at some drugstores is $10.99.
This lip oil for me wasn’t too bad. I mean it is a lip balm that helps to take care of your lips plus it has a high gloss finish which I love. But for $10.99 which is affordable I’m on the fence of may be getting it again. Essentially it is an expensive lip balm that I have to keep reapplying constantly.
It does have essential oils like coconut, pomegranate, abyssian and daikon radish oil that does help to soften and nourish my lips which is great but it just seems I had to keep reapplying it several times a day. But this was when I was wearing it alone but when I paired it up with another lip product, my lips were more comfortable.
My personal opinion is it’s not that bad if your using it on your day off and you’re running errands and having a casual day and that’s when I will use it. But when I go to work or get ready before I go out I want to apply on something that I won’t have to reapply every hour. I also don’t mind the scent of the lip oil because it’s gentle and sweet which I like. As you can tell, love this product but really don’t know if I will purchase it again. So conflicted and confused!
NYX #thisiseverything lip oil
This is another lip oil that you can also find in the drugstores and the price of it is $9.49 and comes in five shades as well and the one that I purchased is the lavender color. This lip oil also has a few different oils in the product. It has avocado, rosehip, jojoba and almond and it has a little bit of a scent that kind of sweet but not over bearing.
After using this lip oil for several days I found that it lasted longer on the lips and it too kept my lips moisturized and comfortable throughout the day. The sheer wash of color was great but when I first applied it, it look kinda weird and pale on my lips but after a few minutes it disappeared and just left a nice shine and a light, purple color on my lips.
I definitely had better results with this lip oil. I didn’t have to reapply it has often as the one before and it too was light weight, non greasy and not sticky at all. I can get away with wearing this lip oil alone because it gives me enough shine and a tiny bit color but I have paired it up with my lipstick and looked great with it as well. And of the scent of it I do love as well because it is sweet but it doesn’t last too long which I like.
Soul out of the two drugstore up lip oils the one that won it for me is the NYX lip oil. Again the Rimmel lip oil is great but I just don’t like that I have to keep reapplying it all the time. But this is just my experience and my personal opinion and the fact that I do have very dry lips, I just want something that is easy to use and helps to take care of my lips. Hope you have had a great time reading this article and I will see you next week my beauties!
Tip: if you have problematic lips like mine, where a lip treatment that is nourishing and deeply moisturizing every evening before going to bed. And if you can have a separate lip treatment for day and night so the night treatment can be heavier and more hydrating then the day one. That way you don’t have to worry about your lip treatment making your lipstick or gloss fading away or feathering.
