Next to my obsession with lip glosses and lip treatments, and a close second is finding the perfect mascara. And I did at the age of 15. My first ever mascara was L’oreal voluminous and I fell in love at first brush stroke. It made my lashes look long and thick without the clumpy look every time. It was such a great feeling that I found the perfect mascara on the first try.
Since then I’ve tried many more mascaras, high-end ones to budget friendly mascaras and some of them were awesome and great to wear others not so much and wondering why I spent the money for it. I’ve finally come back full circle and super excited to write about my first love… in makeup I mean! And not only will I be reviewing the L’oreal mascara, I will also be reviewing the newest mascara from NYX. Read on for more.
L’oreal voluminous mascara in burgundy
This mascara has been around for over 25 years now and is still a fave amongst makeup junkies. It’s also a go too of mine when one of my customers’ needs a mascara that is affordable and works. Plus I may be a little biased when it comes to this mascara, because you know it is one of my favorite ones.
But this year L’oreal changed it up and came out with a mascara that is burgundy. It definitely is the perfect color for the fall season so I picked it up. It is the same formula as any other voluminous mascara and also the same thick felt brush that gives you full, thick and beautiful lashes. It is suppose to leave your lashes soft with no flakes, fragrance free and clump resistant. It’s great for contact lens wearers and it is allergy tested. And to help protect and condition lashes, it has Ceramide R and Panthenol. The cost for this mascara is $10.99.
Well you already know this is my favorite mascara and I love it. But this burgundy color mascara doesn’t do it for me. The mascara still gives me beautiful thickness and length but the color doesn’t even show. Like it really doesn’t show whatsoever until I tell you or I am literally under a light that is shining down right on top of my head. The only time someone could actually see it was when I wore a purple eyeliner or plum eye shadow that helps to enhance the color of the mascara. Obviously I will still wear the mascara because it still looks good with my lashes but there will be no mention of it being a different color.
NYX worth the hype mascara
This company is still new to me and I have only used a concealer which didn’t work well. But you can never go wrong with a mascara and since it’s the newest mascara from this company I decided to try it out. Plus this company has gotten me intrigued about them because all the products that they carry are fun and have great colors. From there eye palettes, lip color products and foundation that has many different colors that can suit just about every skin tone, this company has got me curious. Also the fact that it’s such a big hit with customers, I would like to find something that works for me as well.
The newest mascara that has recently launched called worth the hype is a lengthening and thickening mascara with a soft bristle brush that tapers at the end to help catch the smaller lashes. The mascara comes in four different colors black, brown, blue and purple but you can only purchase the black one in store but the others you can purchase online. There is no scent and it is paraben free and at only $10.00 you can’t go wrong if it’s not really worth the hype.
My personal opinion on this mascara is that it is worth the hype. I’m really loving the brush because it does catch my shorter lashes and really helps them to look longer and thicker. It does not clump and when I apply the mascara I can coat my lashes several times and it won’t look spidery or clumpy looking. You can go from a natural day look, add a few more coats to your lashes and you can go to a more dramatic look. I’m kinda in between these two looks but I’m glad I have choices with this mascara. And it lasts all day and doesn’t smudge but by the end of the day when I wash my face it comes off easily which I really love. Plus the price point at $10.00 only helps to.
So whether you go for the classic mascara or the latest one, you can’t go wrong with both of these. I really do enjoy using both of these mascaras right now and I will put them on rotation so when I feel like wearing the black mascara so I can add more drama to my look or wear the burgundy mascara for more natural look. Having a colored mascara is kind of fun and it’s perfect for the holiday season coming soon.
Hope you enjoy reading this review on both of these mascaras and I will see you next week for my latest find. Have a good day my beauties!
Tip: if for some reason you want to keep your mascara a little longer, instead of adding water to it which will end up making it smudge more, use saline solution or contact lens solution. Adding a drop or two of this will not break down the formula. But it is always better to purchase a new one.
