Ever since I can remember I’ve always wore an eye primer. I only used eyeliner and mascara for most of my high school life, but I was allowed to wear them on special occasions. One idea to wear them on special occasions, I could tell that my eye shadow creased like crazy and I didn’t know an eye primer existed at the time.
It wasn’t until I believe in college that I discovered makeup forever and their eye seal which is still an amazing eye primer that I used for years. It is a clear liquid that can go on any skin tone and helps too keep your eye shadow on and it also helps to intensify the color a little bit. It was the best and I’m sure still is eye primer I ever used. But then again it was the only one I ever used.
Years later I would eventually move on and use the Smashbox eye primer and totally fell in love with the creamy consistency of it but the color was barely there and didn’t disturb the color of the eye shadow, just enhanced it a little bit. So I only used these too over the years and never thought about using any other eye primers that may have been out there.
Now I have actually found two primers that are super affordable and one of them I did enjoy using it for a while and the next one is the one I will be talking about in this article. Read on for more.
NYX Proof it! Waterproof eye shadow primer
This eye shadow primer I had to order on their website and the cost of it was only $10.00. It is a creamy consistency with a little pink tint when you first apply it on your eyelids but when you rub it in it does go clear. So it is perfect for any skin tone and apparently it is waterproof and it stays on all day without creasing or smudging.
For me what I look for in an eyelid primer is little too no color left on the eyelid before applying the eye shadow and I don’t really like the ones that are in a pot because I find them a bit too difficult to apply on my eyelids and I find that after a few hours they crease.
In my opinion this is a winner. It’s so easy to apply and boy does it ever keep my makeup on! I mean I have been outside where it has been snowing or raining and my eye makeup looks perfect. With this eye lid primer on my eye makeup doesn’t move at all which I love. As well the fact that it goes on clear is amazing. When you apply it on your eyelids you do have a little time before it dries out to put on your eye shadow and one sits on, it stays on.
I find that the eye shadow primer is not talked about enough and not used enough. I still get clients who are genuinely surprised that something like this will help their situation of keeping their eye shadow on. It is one of the smaller tools or products I guess that no one thinks about and it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. So in short, thank you eyelid primers for keeping my eyeshadows on for this many years. Until next week my beauties have a good day!
Tip: did you know that I shadow primers also helped to intensify the color of the eye shadow itself. So if you want some of your colors to pop definitely apply a primer to give you the extra pop of color.or if you don’t have a primer on hand use a setting powder to help lock the eyeshadow on and it will help it to stay put.
