Because of the summer weather we often changer makeup and skincare routine and for some of us it’s pretty drastic. But our skincare products are the ones that tend to make a big change. We pile on the sunscreen to make sure we are protected from head to toe, but with all that sunscreen and of course I can’t forget the bronzers and lighter foundations. But all of this together, were definitely gonna need a cleanser that is strong enough to wash all this off without leaving a residue for future breakouts.
My sunscreen is definitely oil free and light on the skin. I can comfortably where it under my makeup and not have that heavy feeling on my face all day. But like every sunscreen, it is meant to protect your skin from the UVA/UVB rays and it sits on top of your skin to do that. So by the end of the day, even if my sunscreen is super light I still want to wash all of it off so there’s no buildup on my skin. And because of my oily skin and prone to have breakouts, I definitely need to make sure I can wash everything off my skin thoroughly.
Hot, humidity, sunscreen and makeup are definitely not a good mix but I do love that beautiful sun on my face. So what type a cleanser can I use to get all this off my face? Well, here is what I do to ensure that I get everything off my face without stripping my skin of my natural oils. I use a cleansing water to remove most of my makeup and then use a gel cleanser with my Clairsonic brush and then I use a toner to help wipe off any makeup or dirt left behind.
So in this article I will be discussing the cleanser that I use right now to help achieve clean skin without over drying it and stripping my skin of my natural oils. This cleanser though is my first cleanser that I’ve used that is soap free. Meaning it doesn’t have the usual suds or foam that come with other cleansers. So does that change the performance of a cleanser or doesn it? That is the question and the answer is down below.
Reversa Acnex soap free cleanser with 2% salicylic acid
This cleanser comes in a 200 ml pump that is $23.00. It is a gel cleanser, but most importantly it is soap free, alcohol free and paraben free. Plus for you animal lovers out there, ‘cause I am too they are cruelty free as well. Now, doesn that sound appealing to you already?
The ingredients they do have that are skin friendly is witch hazel, 2% salicylic acid and citric acid that helps too remove dead skin cells gently but it is not supposed to dry out the skin, keeping your natural moisture intact. They do say it has a fragrance in the cleanser but the difference is that it is not added, it is a natural fragrance from the ingredients they use in this gel cleanser
I have to be honest and tell you that this is my first time using a soap free gel cleanser. I have used gel cleansers in the past and kind of stayed away from them because for me they tend to be drying on my skin. But this gel cleanser has proved me wrong and it is the opposite of any gel cleanser I’ve used. And being my first time using a soap free cleanser, it definitely has been a great experience so far.
With one pump of it, you have more than enough for your whole face. In the beginning when I used this cleanser the only way I could compare it to texture wise, is that it felt slimy and weird on my skin. Because it doesn’t foam up like every other cleanser I’ve used before, it took a little time to get used to this. I even wondered if it would actually clean my skin properly.
But I can tell you that it totally does and not only does it give you a deep clean to remove makeup and excess oil from your skin, it does it gently without over stripping my skin. And over the last few weeks, it has tighten my pores and keeps my skin looking matte. For me, this is my best experience so far using a gel cleanser and the fact that it has 2% salicylic acid to help gently exfoliate the skin really helps to keep my skin balanced. The fragrance they say that’s in this cleanser is not that strong to me so it doesn’t bother my senses at all.
In the summer time my skin gets shiny, my pores are larger and my skin can look dull and congested. So my oily skin does need something to help control all this while also washing away the makeup and excess oil buildup without stripping my face making it feel dry and dehydrated. This cleanser does everything except that last part, it does not over strip the skin and I totally love it.
And might I remind you that this is also a Canadian Company. I hope you enjoyed this week’s article and I will see you next week for my latest. Have a good day my beauties!
Tip: when you’re having problematic skin whether it is dry, prone to acne or sensitive skin, it is best to stick to a skincare routine that is strict and stick to the same products. Wait until your skin has cleared up to start changing up products.
