I always recommend a good scrub to anyone skincare routine unless you have super sensitive skin and can’t be used. But a good scrub can really help to brighten and get rid of dead skin cells that can just pile up on your skin and cause issues like dullness, breakouts and black heads. And in the beauty industry today there are many different types of ways to exfoliate your skin.
From good old fashioned manual scrub which is a quick fix to brightening your skin and not to mention exfoliating pads and face creams that contain AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) which can contain a combination of glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid or it can even just be one of these in the product. Microdermabrasion is also another treatment that can give you a bright and even skin tone but it is a bit harsh so it is not done often but gets you great results. Going to the dermatologist’s office is also a great choice as they can also recommend medical grade peels or pure vitamin a to help even your skin but you can also get these products over the counter if you find that they’re too harsh for you.
However you scrub your face is up to you and with so many choices you can definitely find one for your skin type and also when the seasons change. For me in the fall and winter season I up my exfoliating game. But this season I’m taking a more gentle approach by using a cream based exfoliator which for me is a first time using one. So while I have experience in using an exfoliator of some sort, this it is new territory to me. Here is my review on the scrub that I am using currently.
Marcelle cleansing exfoliating cream
So this is my first fall and winter season where I have completely change my routine and this includes my scrub. Actually in the winter time I never used a Manual scrub, I actually used a face cream with glycolic acid and did a peel once a week. I only used the scrub in the spring and summer time and used it about 2 to 3 times a week.
This scrub is cream based and doesn’t have a lot of micro beads in it which I’m used to. And at $12.95 you get 150 ml and it is hypoallergenic, paraben, perfume and oil free. It is also a Canadian Company which I’m sure you have heard for me because I have used their mask so far. It is for all skin types but it is also for people who have sensitive skin. It says it can be used every day but I use it a few times a week but that can be your call how many times you want to use it.
My personal opinion on this scrub so far is that I think I’m still getting used to it. It is my first scrub that is cream based and I’m usually used to having something that is a bit harsh but I think I am going to enjoy it especially when it gets colder. It sounds kind of like a weird opinion right? But it’s not because it is my first time using gentler products in general.
I use it about 2 to 3 times a week and when I use it our skin does not feel dry or have that tight or dehydrated feeling. My skin actually feels soft and looks more polished. I’ve been using this scrub for almost a month now and my skin feels and looks a lot better. And because I don’t really like heavy scents in my skincare, for me this is a bonus! You probably could use it every day as there aren’t a lot of micro beads in it but I don’t really recommend doing that in general but that is up to you and if your skin can handle it.
If you have weather like us and it’s getting colder, tries to remember that your skin also changes with the weather. Tried to change up your routine as much as you can and see what works and what doesn’t. For some may may not be fun to do this but for me, the skincare junkie that I am, is always willing to try something new. Until next week my beauties have a good day!
