It is finally beautiful, sunny and warm. So bring on the bronzers, self-tanner, natural looking foundations and weightless face moisturizers. Most of us, if not all of us switch up are makeup and skincare routine to fit the humid and hot weather that is just around the corner. Because we tend to sweat (we actually glow not sweat) we want anything that we put on our face this summer to be as light as possible.
Today you can definitely find super light, fluid like moisturizers that dry down to a matte and invisible finish which any skin type can wear today, including oily skin like mine. They even have tinted sunscreens where the color does disappear on your skin and it’s only their too diffuse the whiteness of the sunscreen. Because sometimes sunscreens can leave a white film and it can make your skin look even paler or if your darker skin tone, it can make it look ashy.
But a sunscreen can’t really moisturize your skin. There are moisturizers with sunscreen in it and then there is the actual sunscreen (usually ones in a brighter orange or yellow bottle or box) but regardless of where the sunscreen is, it has to stay on top of your skin to help physically protect it from the sun. So unfortunately it won’t absorb in your skin, which if you’ve been out all day lounging at the beach or just hanging out in your backyard, your skin is going to probably feel dehydrated. So what do you do with that problem?
Well you need a sunscreen to protect your skin right? So why not put something underneath it, like a moisturizer. You would be shocked at how many times I recommend this to my clients and they didn’t even think of that. And that usually solves the problem. But what if a moisturizer and sunscreen is too heavy for your skin? Then use a serum instead which will absorb into the skin and keep it hydrated longer. Now if you think a serum would be a better idea, read on for more about the serum I use.
Bioderma Hydrabio serum
This serum is for dehydrated and sensitive skin but this serum can be used on any skin type including sensitive skin. Their ingredient list includes cucumber extract to help soothe, vitamin PP and B3 to help stimulate skin, but what really is the star of this serum is an apple extract in conjunction with a complex called aquagenium which helps to carry water into the epidermis and help capture moisture deeper into the skin. You can wear this alone or with your moisturizer and the cost of this serum is $34.90.
I’ve tried many Bioderma Products in the past and I’ve always been satisfied with them. But this is my first time using a moisturizer from this company and I totally love this serum. My combination to oily skin does feel dehydrated and my skin just drinks up the serum. Sometimes at night, I just apply the serum alone and it’s enough moisture for my skin. On days that I wear a sunscreen and I’m going to be out all day, I applied the serum first then my sunscreen and by the end of the day, my skin does not feel dehydrated and lacking moisture.
What I recommend the serum? Absolutely! Is it for anyone skin? Definitely! And you can definitely wear it under any type of moisturizer including a sunscreen. There is definitely no parabens and no alcohol but it does say it has a fragrance but I honestly don’t smell that much of it and what little I do smell, doesn’t linger afterwards. The cost of the serum again it is $34.90 which is pretty affordable for great skincare.
I hope you enjoyed this review and hope to see you again next week. Have a good day my beauties!
Tip: a serum goes deeper into the skin which keeps the skin hydrated longer. A regular face moisturizer usually stays on top of the skin to help protect it and comfort it to an extent but usually when wearing it by itself, your skin tends to feel dehydrated or dry by the end of the day. When you add a serum, it usually solves this problem. Try it next time and see what happens.
