So I’d talked about how I found some beautiful and moisturizing glosses last week. But this week I’m here to talk about not one but two lip balms. For whatever reason, the last couple years I’ve been using two lip treatments, one for the day that is light weight and can wear well under my lip gloss and a night treatment that is more on the heavier side and that nourish my lips as well as repair them.
When I do two lip treatments, they’re usually very affordable or a luxury product. This time these lip treatments will be one that is very affordable and one that is more on the expensive side. But the most important thing for me is that they work, because if they do, price doesn’t really matter. So, are these lip balms worth it?
Before I go into the reviews, let me tell you exactly what I’m looking for and why I’m so obsessed! I have dry lips all year round no matter the season but obviously when it gets colder, they tend to get a bit worse. But only if I found a good lip treatment, then I will be okay. What I do look for in a lip balm is that I don’t want to reapply it multiple times a day. I love when a lip balm works so well, that even after I’ve eaten I can still feel it hydrating my lips. That’s when I know I found a great lip balm. So let’s see which one met my high standards.
Arbonne intelligence lip treatment
As a lip treatment, this is the most expensive one I’ve purchased this far. At $47.00, it is not your average lip balm. It’s a lip balm but it’s also an anti aging cream and primer for your lips. You get a 9.8 ml tube, there is no parabens, no bad alcohol and there is a very slight, sweet scent but there is no added synthetic fragrance. And they are also cruelty free. The three main ingredients that help too softly plump and minimize fine lines are ginger, raspberry seed oil and phytinol which is alfalfa extract and chicory extract to help smooth out fine lines and tone the skin.
So I have been using this lip treatment during the day because it literally sinks into the lips and dries pretty quickly. It is a creamier texture that I’m not used to but it does go a long way so you don’t have to use much at all. I feel like when I’m rub it into my lips, it has a cooling sensation rather than a tingling one which I don’t even mind, it feels rather good.
It is definitely a good priming treatment because it doesn’t feel heavy or leave much of anything on the lips and I don’t have to apply this lip treatment on frequently. Sometimes, I could go a whole day without reapplying it. I have used this treatment at night and for me, it’s not enough for my very dry lips. But for people who don’t have my lip issues, I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine.
Uriage cica-lips protecting balm
This skincare line is small but has products for anyone who just wants a simple skincare routine including people who suffer from sensitive skin including rosacea. They mainly focused on people who have sensitivities like allergies from other skincare products and their products really focus on healing and protecting the skin. This product line is also from France.
This specific lip balm comes in a 15 ml tube that is $11.95. It is supposed to repair, soothes and insulate very dry lips. there is no alcohol, no parabens and no scent in this lip balm. There isn’t a whole lot of ingredients in this lip balm which is not bad and some of these ingredients include a poly-2p which are photos squalane and photosterols which helps provide a moisturizing base. Other ingredients but not all are micro crystalline wax, mineral oil, glycerin and squalane.
I love the fact that there is no harsh chemicals in it and that it has a boatload of moisturizers to keep your lips hydrated. It does feel good when I apply it to my lips but because of the heavy texture to it, it’s not the best to go under your favorite lip product. This lip balm I use mainly at night and it’s a great treatment.
But having too much of something is probably not the best. My issue with this lip balm is that maybe there’s too much moisturizers in this lip balm that it’s causing it to not absorb well in my lips. Mineral oil is usually an ingredient that doesn absorb and kinda stays on top or maybe my lips aren’t as dry as I thought they might be. And I have to keep reapplying this lip balm several times a day because it’s just not moisturizing my lips enough. However when I use it at night before a go to bed, in the morning they don’t feel too bad and that’s why I just use it at night or on my days off when I’m not wearing any lip gloss.
Out of the two lip balms, my fave one is the arbonne lip treatment. It feels good on the lips, keeps them hydrated all day and is anti-aging. The urige lip balm isn’t that bad either and I will keep using it because it definitely is a good lip balm for night. Thank you for reading my latest review and I will see you next week!
