This week I’ll be talking about my newest eye makeup remover that I’ve been using. We all have that perfect eye makeup remover we go to but if your skincare junkie like me, you’re definitely going to want to try something new and you haven’t used before. I’ve used all different types of eye makeup remover from cleansing waters to eye makeup remover wipes and even a good old eye makeup remover. And I’ve had products that work great and took off all my eye makeup super easy. I’ve also had ones where I’ve literally had to soak three or four cotton pads to get my makeup off and even the next day when I woke up, I would still have bits of my makeup around the eye area. I’ve been through a lot of these eye makeup remover to know what I want from them.
And eye makeup remover for me is very essential in my skincare routine. I love my eye makeup and even on my day off when I’m running errands I put a mascara just to make my eyes pop a little. I know it sounds crazy but I’d really do love my eye makeup. I wear long wearing or waterproof eye pencil and always wear an eyelid primer to keep my eyeshadows on all day and keep it from creasing because I have oily eyelids. So obviously I need something that will take all this off, doesn’t leave a weird residue behind that will make me break out and also that weird “cloudiness” you get when you remove the cotton pad and open your eye and everything is blurry. Now where do I find one of those eye makeup remover product?
These days there are plenty of products that can help you achieve getting rid of all your eye makeup. You could only find cleansing waters and high-end skincare or skincare geared towards mostly sensitive skin. But in the last few years skincare lines like nivea, L’oreal or Garnier are coming out with their own and multiple types of cleansing waters for any skin type. The one that I will be talking about today is from the Garnier collection.
Garnier Micellar Water for all skin types
I haven’t used anything from this company except for maybe over 10 years ago when I may have purchased a cleanser or toner and didn’t like how it felt. At least that’s what I can remember, but there cleansing waters piqued my interest and at 400 ml in size for only $12.99 I decided to give it a try. This can be used for cleansing the face and eye makeup as well plus it’s great for all skin types including sensitive skin. It doesn’t contain any alcohol, fragrance or oil.
My colleague also recommended to me and she has sensitive, normal to combination skin. She highly recommended it and since I was already interested I figured why not? So my personal opinion on this eye makeup remover is 50/50. It does remove my eye makeup pretty well, but you do have to shake it every time you’re about to use it. Even though I haven’t been breaking out which is good, it does leave a film on my eye area so I have to wipe my eye area with a tissue so no residue gets left behind. And I do get that “cloudiness” when I open my eyes after I remove the cotton pad.
I mean it doesn’t have the alcohol, fragrance or oil that I don’t like in my skincare, but it does the job, kind of. I don’t hate it totally but I haven’t been won over by it either. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and even though it takes off my makeup, it’s the residue that it leaves behind and that blurry look when I open my eyes that I don’t like. That’s why I’m surprised I’m not breaking out. I’ll keep using it ‘cause I’m not breaking out and it does the job but what I recommend it? I think someone who has normal to dry skin would prefer it then someone who has oily skin.
I hope you like this review this week even though it was a bit confusing. Until next week have a good day my beauties!
Tip: if you want to keep your eye makeup remover longer, put it in a spray bottle. By doing this, you can avoid spilling it on your cotton pad or putting too much on your cotton pad. By doing it this way you can definitely keep your eye makeup remover longer, including the expensive ones.
