I’m so excited to finally talk about the Aaliyah collection by M.A.C. this week. When I found out last year that they were going to do a collaboration with her family and launch this collection I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to get it.
Aaliyah first caught my attention when I saw her music video for one in a million. You see I was and still is a tomboy. In my teens, I was playing around with my style like we all are try to figure out what we are comfortable in. She was one of the few woman at the time mixed baggy pants with a tank top. When I first saw that, I was hooked. I finally found one else comfortable wearing and was able to be a tomboy and wear makeup to.
So now you know why I’m so excited to talk about this collection on my blog. By the way, this is my first time ever trying out M.A.C. cosmetics. I have never bought anything from them before this collection, that’s how excited I was too just jump in and buy this collection on a whim. So let’s start these reviews!
9 Eye shadow palette- Age aint nothing
First of all everything in this collection comes packaged in burgundy and has her signature on it which is pretty cool. This eye shadow palette contains three matte, three soft shimmer and a three metallic or very shimmery eye shadow. The colors range from black, deep brown, purple to pink. The eye palette is definitely versatile and can easily go from day to a night look. And
The pigments in these eyeshadows are pretty rich and the texture is soft. The colors definitely do show on my skin tone and even the ones that are very metallic are a bit too intense for me if I put on too much. They are easily blendable which I love. There isn’t too much kickback on the matte and semi shimmer ones, but the very metallic ones do have more kickback.
I do love the colors and I love how versatile they are and I personally have not seen these colors in one palette. You can definitely do different looks and combinations of these colors together and the fact that they show up on the skin very well is a bonus. M.A.C. Lipstick in Try again anf Lipglass in Li Li’s Motor City
So immediately I know I’m gonna like the lip gloss. Its coral color will fit into my collection of my summer colors. But the lipstick is a color I don’t normally wear but I have recently been seeing a color similar in other collections and is apparently a very popular color. So I purchased the colors that would be suitable for my looks that I usually go for.
The coral color Lipglass is immediately my favorite as it is moisturizing and the color is soft but still noticeable and perfect for summer. It’s also very high shine and it does have a soft but sweet smell which I find pleasant. It is not sticky and it glides on easily.
The lipstick on the other is the color and texture that I’d don’t normally go for but there is a first time for everything. So when I applied this color on my lips, which by the way is like a greige color to me, it literally was the same color as my skin tone. Except it had a more than ashy tone to it which on me looked off putting. But one sign mixed it with the lip gloss, it had some color and I looked great with it. I personally wouldn’t wear the lipstick alone ‘cause it makes me look sick quite frankly. But once I paired it with a lip gloss, it looked so much more refreshing and brighter. I wouldn’t wear it alone anyway because it has a matte finish and it shows all my lines and my dry lips. But when I do where the lipstick it does feel comfortable and moisturizing, but the whole matte finish is just not for me.
Bronzing/ highlighting powder in baby girl
So this Bronzing powder I actually use as a highlighter. It’s for me personally, there’s a little too much sparkle in it for me to use it as a bronzer on my face but definitely on my body like my chest and shoulders I can definitely use it for that. I use it as a highlighter for my cheekbones and my brow, but the color of it is so beautiful and matches my skin so well that I can actually layer it with my blush to give it some texture and a little added glow. And sometimes when I don’t want a lot of color on my eyes, I use it as eye shadow just to give it a little pop. This Bronzing powder for me is versatile and perfect for my looks that I create.

Tip: the best that can give you for make-up is enjoy it! Doesn’t matter what age, who you are or even skin tone or type just enjoy it. Because you can always take it off.
