Sleeping mask: great way too intensely hydrate your skin as you sleep. Sleeping masks are only used once or twice a week replacing your night cream on those nights.
What? Another step? Why is there so many steps? Now I know for some, just washing your face and putting on a moisturizer with sunscreen and maybe using a night cream is a struggle but using a sleeping mask will not only enhance your skincare routine, it will make a big difference to your skin.
It will make such a huge difference to your skin that you may want to use a sleeping mask every night. And if you want to, you definitely can if your skin needs it. But it is only meant to be used once or twice a week for that extra boost of hydration. Or as I discovered, when I do peels and my skin is vulnerable to getting dehydrated and feeling tight, a sleeping mask is very helpful in this case.
I have used a sleeping mask before and before sleeping masks were crazy popular, I purchased one years ago but felt that after using it, my skin was to oily at that time and I really didn’t notice a difference on my skin. Plus my skin was so oily, I was just trying to use only products that would help maintain my oily skin. Now that my skin is more combination and needs more hydration, I’m willing to use a sleeping mask. Today there’s so many choices that I’m not sure which one I would go for but that all changed when one was sent to me. Read on for more information.
Fresh rose deep hydration sleeping mask
This sleeping mask just launched about a month ago and I received it as a gift from influenster right when it came out. And I am such a fan of this skincare company especially their lip treatments which I am so obsessed with and I keep at least one of their lip products rotating in my makeup bag at all times.
I have used their skincare before and they worked out pretty well. So I was super excited to use this new two in one sleeping mask. This sleeping mask has two parts to it and yes you use it at the same time. And yes they are both face creams but one is a gel based cream and the other half is a light textured cream. The cooling gel has rose water, damask rose extract and hyaluronic acid which helps too hydrate, support the skin’s natural moisture barrier and a second water cream moisturizer locks it in and uses a time released technology to help keep the skin moisturized.
This moisturizer comes in a container that is split into 2 halves that is 35 ml each. I have read the ingredients as well and they are both alcohol free, paraben free and they have not added any fake perfume. It is meant for all skin types and the cost for this sleeping mask is $60.00 which is pretty good considering you’re only using it once or twice a week, so it will last you quite a while.
My personal opinion on this rose sleeping mask is when I first opened it, the smell hit me pretty hard. The rose scent is very strong but as I said before this is just the natural smell of this product, not a fake perfume has been added into this. But it is very strong and very distinct and even when applied you can still smell it. After getting over the scent, I applied step one, the cooling gel which absorbed very quickly and step two, the water cream which left my skin feeling soft to the touch.
The next day I woke up with my face looking less fatigued, definitely hydrated and my skin felt soft. You’re probably thinking as well that both creams can feel heavy and it probably won’t work with my skin. My skin is combination to oily skin type and I can tell you that it doesn’t feel heavy or uncomfortable and it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing two creams which sounds crazy but it honestly feels light weight and very comfortable on my face and neck.
So my personal opinion on this sleeping mask is I am very much in love with it. It gives me the results I want after doing my facial peels and it very much makes my skin feel comfortable and looking brighter and plump. My only problem with this face mask is the scent! I know in the Fresh skincare line, the rose collection is heavily scented, so I knew what I was getting into. It does mean I wouldn’t use it again, it just means I’ll be holding my nose. But again I am just sensitive to scented face creams.
Does this mean you have to add another step to your skincare routine? Because a sleeping mask is totally worth it. But if you’re just getting the hang of washing your face and putting on your regular face moisturizer I think it would be wise to get this down before moving on to more complicated steps of the skincare routine. Until next week my beauties, have a good week!
Tip: a sleeping mask is suitable for all skin types. Most of them, if not all of them are meant to deeply hydrate the skin and give your skin that hydrating boost. Even oily skin types can definitely benefit from using a sleeping mask. And it really isn’t necessary to use a serum with this sleeping mask but if your skin is on the dryer side, you may want to.
