Spring, summer, fall and winter. I love when the seasons change, whether it’s the colorful leaves for the fall or the longer, sunny days in the summer, it’s such a beautiful thing to see a mother nature change right before your eyes. But what I love even more is getting the chance to change up my skincare routine. So exciting! Yeah, I know I’m a little weird but I do love my skincare!
But the last couple winters have not been good to my skin and not in the way you would think. I figured getting older, my skin what obviously start to change and have different needs. So instead of my skin being oily all year round, my skin started to feel tight and it actually needed more moisture in the colder season. I added a super light facial cream and along with my serum, it worked like a charm! Until last January at least and that’s when things started to really change.
Last January my skin under my chin area only, broke out like I was going through my first hormonal changes as a teenager! I was in total disbelief and pissed that at the age of 36 this is happening to me all over again. And for a few weeks I couldn’t use anything that could make it go away, because that area was very inflamed and there was so many breakouts that it actually started hurting. I haven’t had this kind of acne since my teen years and at this point in my life, I thought it wouldn’t happen again.
But here I am today at 37 and again having this same problem this winter. After my first bout of my acne last year, spring, summer and fall went by without a problem except when I was stressed or my monthly came along. My skin was healing and looking great. Now it has come back again but at least this time, it hasn’t been as severe as the first time. There isn’t as much breakouts this time and it’s not to inflame which is good because I can start using products that will make it go away faster. But to be a woman in my late thirties dealing with acne is just so crazy to me. I was prepared to deal with wrinkles and dull skin, but I wasn’t prepared to deal with acne like this at my age.
That’s why I’m so glad that these days there a skincare that can help with both anti-aging and acne. My skincare routine is pretty much similar to last year but I have chosen a cream that is more potent than the last one but from the same company. Read on to find out more.
Reversa resurfacing cream with 10% Glycolic Acid
I’ve used quite a bit of their skincare products and for the most part I’ve had good luck with them. So it’s no surprise that when my skin started freaking out again, I purchased this glycolic acid cream. The one I used last year had 8% glycolic acid, so I decided to up it to their 10% glycolic acid that also contains aloe Vera to soothe and calm skin and hyaluronic acid to help keep the skin plump and moisturized. It comes in a 50 ml bottle for $41.00. And also just so you remember, it is a Canadian Company.
If you’re not familiar with glycolic acid, it is from sugar cane. Glycolic acid essentially helps too exfoliate the skin faster than our normal 28 day cycle when we exfoliate naturally. But that process slows down as you get older making your skin dull looking. Glycolic acid is well known to brighten the skin instantly, minimize wrinkles, helps with acne starring and helps to reduce hyper pigmentation like sunspots. It definitely is one of the best ingredients to use in your skincare routine.
My personal opinion is I am loving this face cream. I haven’t used a 10% glycolic face cream in a longtime and when I did use it, I used it every day. My skin is not as oily as it used to be, so I use this cream for two days with a hydrating serum under it and on the third day I use a serum and a different face cream. I noticed that my skin was getting dehydrated and feeling tight when I only using this cream and a serum for week straight. So I had to find a happy balance so I wouldn’t add more skin problems to my list.
The reason why I love this product is that it resurfaces my skin dramatically and I definitely see a difference. Since using this cream, my acne has been reduced and although the spots that were left behind, I know that it will be too long before they disappear. If I wasn’t using a product like this, the spots would take longer to go away and I definitely want my skin to be summer ready.
And I’m not sure if you beauties out there know this, but when using a product like this, your skin will look a bit worse before it gets better but it’s only temporary. Even someone like me who has used this before gets a little freaked out to but you have to remember that you’re resurfacing your skin and by doing this, acne or sunspots might look a little darker temporarily but will lighten up over time.
I know that when spring comes around, I won’t have this problem. But I hope next winter this whole acne ordeal won’t happen again. But at least I know that I have the products I can rely on to help reduce my acne problem. Thank you for reading my latest article and I hope to see you next week my beauties!
Tip: if you’re going to use face creams with high amount of glycolic acid, retinol or even vitamin C which are called “active” ingredients, do not mix together or with other active ingredients. They are just too unstable to be together and you may not get the results you want. Your skin might end up reacting to too much active ingredients on your skin that you might end up with more problems than you started with. So use one active ingredient at a time!
