For me a concealer has always been important to me. I’d try to keep my foundation a more natural and soft look ‘cause I don’t like that heavy feeling on my oily skin and the fact that my skin still gets shiny with liquid foundations so I have to be careful with that type of coverage it gives me and the formula as well.
But concealers are the best for covering anything and everything that needs to be covered on your face. Dark circles, uneven skin tone and spot covering is my main concern and without a concealer I might as well be wearing sunglasses to cover up my dark circles. OK, I might be over exaggerating but I’m sure you beauties out there can agree that can give you a polished and unified look.
last year I was buying one concealer after another that wasn’t working for me. One had too much alcohol in it, another one I’d tried didn’t work out for me no matter what tip or trick I could do to correct it, that concealer was just not right for me. And another one strangely enough worked some of the time. One day it would be perfectly fine the next day it would crease under my eyes like crazy. So like any other makeup junkie, I go onto the next one.
NYX cosmetics is super popular and they have a ton of makeup and other accessories for make-up to use and try it. So far for me one of two products I’ve used has worked. The creamy concealer in the pot was a no go for me but recently I bought their new mascara and I love it! So there’s a few things in my makeup bag that are finishing soon, so I’ve decided to purchase a few of their stuff to try and see for myself if they are truly worthy to be in my makeup bag. First up is their new concealer that I will be reviewing in this article.
NYX can’t stop won’t stop contour concealer
Its great this makeup line is very affordable and hopefully in my case it works. So at $11.49 I decided to give this concealer a try and plus with their new collection including foundation, setting powder, powder foundation and this concealer I wanted to give this collection a try. So I have bought the concealer and recently just purchased the foundation that I will do a review on that in a couple weeks. But first this concealer.
The company has made this concealer in 24 shades that are great for most if not all skin tones. And usually in the drugstore, there isn’t a lot of choices for me so I was glad that they have a great selection. It is a full coverage, 24 hour wearing and matte finish plus it can double up to be used in contouring your face whether its highlighting or sculpting. The creamy texture of this concealer stays in place after it has been blended in to give you a nice, soft matte finish and it also gives you full coverage to hide a thing you want to hide.
So does it work? Well I have been using it for the past couple weeks and I have to say that this time around this concealer is working for me! The color I picked out is beige and at first I thought it would be too light and it wouldn’t blend in properly but the color after that was a bit too dark so I went for this one. So because it is a full coverage concealer, a little bit goes a long way so I’d dotted it under the eyes with the wand it comes with and use my brush to blend it in and it really soaked into my skin nicely giving me a nice, bright eye to look. And any imperfections I have, it totally covers it up. My main concern is my dark circles and bags under my eyes so I’m really glad it helped that.
It is a creamy texture that I thought would crease under my eyes but once I blended and I checked throughout the day it stayed in place and it didn even fade! It did give me a nice finish but not super matte better looked flat, just enough to make it stay in place and give you a nice, very soft dewy look. You don’t necessarily need a setting powder to keep it in place but I use one anyway and it doesn’t budge or melt away. The most I kept it on for was about 12 or 13 HRS and it didn’t look oily or give me extra shine.
This is definitely a concealer I would recommend for anyone. The fact that it has a lot of colors to choose from, it won’t be hard to find your color to match. And with it being budget friendly it won’t break the bank. I don’t do much contouring or highlighting with a concealer but I like that I have that option if I want to.
Now that I’ve bought a few other things from that same company, you’ll be hearing about it in the next few weeks as I start using them and testing them out. Until next week, have a good day my beauties!
Tip: with the concealer if you go just about one or two shades lighter it will give you a brighter look. But I always tell my clients to give it about a few minutes to settle onto the skin as I finish the rest of their makeup and by that time it looks uniform.
