It’s been awhile since I talked about anything to do with lips. Here is part two of all things lips and this one has to do with affordable lip glosses. For a while I was only using pretty expensive glosses, but now since the more affordable companies have been putting out new products that says it’s supposed to keep your lips hydrated and moisturized all day I figured I should try a handful of these products and really see which ones help my severely dry lips.
A few things that I want in a lip gloss is obviously keep my lips moisturized and hydrated throughout the day but even after eating and drinking and if it comes off, I still want it to leave my lips feeling moisturized. Does that make sense to you? I mean I don’t care if the color or shine comes off after a couple hours but if it leaves my lips still moisturize after that, then it’s a keeper! I definitely don’t want it to be sticky and smell is not usually a concern of mine as long as it’s not too strong and it doesn’t smell bad. And by the way I do stay away from long wearing and matte lipsticks ‘cause so far any one that I’ve tried really make my lips dry and cracked looking. So for me, it’s best that I avoid these lip products unless someone has good luck with one of them and maybe they can tell me and I can definitely try a a couple them in the future.
I have desperately been trying to find a replacement for my Clarins lip balms that I used to have in many colors because as soon as I tried it many years ago I immediately fell in love with it. Soon after I had about a handful of them of my own at this point, and then I found out that they were being discontinued! So like the beauty addict I am, I purchased another six of these lip glosses that I was obsessed with and they had a purple lip gloss I loved that I bought a couple of them because it looked so nice on my lips and in total I had almost a dozen of them! Since then I have used all of them except for one that is about to be done and after years of experimenting and using many different lip glosses, I think I may have found one that is just as good as the Clarins one that I covet it so much. Read on to find out which one I am in love with.
Sephora lip balm gloss
So when I was looking for a purple lip gloss to replace my old one, sephora’s brand of lip glosses popped up and they had a nice purple gloss so I decided to order it because it was only 10 bucks and it was my fave color. (later on sephora as well discontinued this color so I’m still on the search for another purple lip gloss but they still have it on sale so I will get as many of the purple glosses I can) and
With mango and grape seed oils it definitely moisturizes and leaves a lasting hydration on the lips even after I’ve eaten or drink. It does give you a nice high shine which I love and a soft pigment load on the lips. But what I did notice is that after I had eaten and before I applied the lip gloss, it does leave a stain behind on your lips. And every time you apply after that the color intensifies which was kinda surprising but pleasant. It does come off easily so you don’t have to worry about it staining your lips for a long time but I kinda liked it because it didn’t leave the lips dry.
So whenever I order from sephora or go there I will definitely be buying more colors from this brand as I only have two colors at the moment. But this a lip gloss is definitely in my makeup bag because it works so well and it actually smells really good to. This one is definitely a great replacement for the Clarins lip gloss that I loved so much.
Physicians formula Murumuru butter lip gloss
This lip gloss and came out earlier this year and I was intrigued by this new ingredient called Murumuru butter which is essentially found in Brazil. In a lip gloss like this, it is supposed to be protective and moisturizing and as well it has Shea butter and fatty acids and jojoba oil and to help comfort the lips and and protect it. There isn’t much of a smell to it and it gives you a good amount of color on your lips. They do have several colors in this lip gloss and I got the one called Brazilian nut which is a nude color on my lips. This affordable lip gloss is actually only $10.00 as well.
What do I think of this lip gloss? It too is actually quite good and to remember how I said even after I eat or drink I still want it to feel that it’s hydrating my lips? Well this one does too! When I first applied it I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of shine it last on my lips because it looked matte when I first bought it and applied it and the color was perfect. It does glide on easily and even after drinking or eating, the hydration and comfort is still there on my lips even though most of it has come off.
When I do use this lip gloss I don’t have to use anything underneath it because when I did, it came off so easily because it was so slick so I just use it alone. It still comes off very easily but even though it does I don’t have to reapply it too often because I still feel the hydration and moisture in my lips.
These two lip glosses are definitely not sticky but they’d definitely have a left a lasting impression on my lips and on me. I’m really glad that I found alternatives and the fact that they are affordable is even better. Being a makeup addict has its perks because you move from one product to another. But sometimes a product will stop you in your tracks annual fall apps slowly in love with it until you find it’s being discontinued and any freak out. I did freak out when I found out my fave a lip gloss was being discontinued but I’m so happy now that I found a couple of beautiful alternatives for my lips
There definitely will be a part three to this because there’s a couple more I still want to use and test out so I hope to see you here when I drop that article and hopefully you won’t have to wait too long to read that one. Have a good week my beauties!
Tip: lip glosses are definitely more comfortable to wear but they do come off easily unfortunately. If you want to keep them on as long as you can, you can either wear a lip primer or apply a lip liner all over the lips to keep the glosses on as long as you can.
