Skincare is one of the most basic routines we do every day. It’s one of those routines that we don’t really think about, we just do it. We know that if we want great looking skin part of the solution is having a great skincare routine that you’ve cultivated over the years. For us skincare junkies like me, I don’t have a problem switching from one product to another as long as it addresses my skincare issues. But say you have problematic skin like sensitivity or even certain conditions like rosacea that really narrows down your skincare choices. But even choosing the right skincare for you can still be difficult with the many skincare companies out there and even more skincare products to choose from. So today I will be giving you some basics on how to finding that perfect skincare routine for you and your skin.
- Know your skin type/condition
This is an essential part of your skin care routine if you want to have great skin. You’d be surprised as to how many clients I get who don’t know exactly what their skin type is either because there just starting out on their skincare routine or there in limbo because their skin has changed and the cream they were using for years doesn’t work anymore.
Seeing a dermatologist is definitely a great way to start, especially if you have certain conditions that cannot be treated by over the counter skincare products or you need to buy specific products and aren’t sure because of your condition (i.e. Psoriasis, rosacea etc.)
Otherwise if your skin is free from any type of conditions, going to your local beauty store and getting one of the beauty experts to help you establish a skincare routine for you is easy. Some of these stores are now equipped with devices that can help check your hydration levels as well as checking out your skin type. Besides this is the easy part, the next part is a bit difficult.
- Do the research before buying
Whether it’s a $20.00 or $200 skincare product, you should always do research on those products. There are reasons why skincare products can be budget friendly or spend your paycheck on a whole skincare routine budget. It’s all about research and development, ingredients that can only be found in their skincare line, sometimes even packaging so the contents in that bottle will stay fresh or stabilized and to the consumer who is willing to spend. It’s not easy these days to find skincare products so easily because they’re so many different companies to choose from, but if you’re willing to do the work and a little bit of research I’m sure you’ll be able to find the perfect skincare line and routine for your skin. Whether you’re like me and you wanna try a little bit of everything from different companies or your someone who is looking for cruelty free skincare products, there is something for everyone out there.
- Cleanse, tone, moisturize and repeat
It does sound simple but with all the added steps and skincare products that is out these days it can get a little complicated. But here’s the thing, it doesn’t have to be! If you’ve got the simple steps down all you have to do is slowly add one product at a time to your routine. Make sure you can consistently do it whether it’s a daily or weekly treatment and over time you can keep adding or adjusting to your routine when necessary. It’s also about what your skin needs and what you want out of it. I always tell my clients to start out slowly because I’ve seen other clients who have bought a whole bunch of products at the same time and then coming back a few weeks later feeling overwhelmed and not sure what they’re doing. A great skincare routine can be hard to find, but once you get there your skin will definitely think you.
Let’s not forget that sunscreen is always important and no matter how young or how old you are a great skin care routine will always show especially on your face. I’m sure these basic tips can help you along your skincare journey and will come in handy. These tips can definitely be applied to finding makeup as well. So go out there and enjoy finding that next great skincare routine. Until next week have a good day my beauties!
