eye cream

My skincare routine is and always has been important to me.  Why is it important?  Because I’ve always had breakouts and I’ve always had to maintain my skin to keep it under control.  I’ve always had oily skin and now that I have gotten older my skin has started to change but only in the fall and winter time where now I have to actually hydrate and moisturize the skin.  And because my skin is changing I also have to look for anti-aging products. Yey!

I am 36 years old and I want to age gracefully but at the same time I’m freaking out ‘cause who wants to get old?  I don’t but it’s gonna happen to all of us so I at least want to look great for my age.  My skincare routine is even more important to me now than before because having a routine is probably the best way to combat everything that comes with getting older.

Currently my most important issue at the moment is my eye area.  Experts say the skin around your eyes is much thinner than the rest of your face.  So since I am getting older not only do I need to get eye cream, but I need to get an eye cream that helps with wrinkles.  But I also have to find one that is light enough to go with my combination skin but at the same time keep it hydrated and help my eyes look bright and keep the wrinkles at bay.

Ole Henriksen Banana bright eye crème

I have used skincare products from this company in the past with exceptional results and I’ve never had a problem with their products.  Before this eye cream I did use their cleanser and toner for combination to oily skin and my skin felt hydrated yet balanced and my skin looked clearer.  How I stumbled upon this eye cream is I did a skincare quiz on sephora and they gave me options for the concerns I was looking for and this was one of them.  It seems like the perfect fit for me as my concerns are dark circles and under eye bags plus and anti -wrinkle boost to keep the wrinkles at bay.  This eye cream has vitamin C to help brighten and fight visible signs of aging.  Collagen to help boost skin’s elasticity and green tea and orange extracts to help nourish skin.

The eye cream also boasts a yellow looking tint because it contains pigments to help brighten and correct under the eye area hence the banana in the title because it is mimicking the banana powder that is used to help brighten your skin.  Plus it comes in a cream that is light enough for my skin type but still moisturizes the under eye area throughout the day.  Apparently it is also supposed to give your concealer longevity throughout the day.

My personal opinion on this eye cream so far is that it is going great and I understand why women love this eye cream so much.  Instantly when I put it on it really did brighten up the eye area because of the tint it has.  It is not heavy at all but it still keeps my under eye area hydrated all day especially in this cold weather.

I have been using it for over a month now and at first my eyes did feel slightly irritated for about a week because I wasn’t sure if it was the vitamin C that was doing it or the scent but after that week I was fine.  Wearing the eye cream under the makeup is no trouble at all.  When I put my concealer on top of it I feel that it makes my under eyes look dewy and glowing.  I don’t know if it’s the eye cream or the concealer doing this but my concealer does last longer and it doesn’t seem to fade as it did before.  Whatever it is I love it and I truly feel comfortable with wearing this eye cream.

At $48.00 it is a bit of an investment but I promise you will definitely love the results that you are getting with this eye cream.  Until next week my beauties have a great day!

Tip: I have been seeing this on Instagram lately when people do videos of themselves putting on their skincare routine I feel like screaming.  Do not rub the eye cream under your eyes.  Take the cream on your fingertip and lightly pat it under the eyes.  When you rub it under the eyes vs. the rest of your face your eye area can look a bit irritated causing the bags to look bigger for a little while.  So try to avoid this if you can.
