If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been writing a lot of skincare product reviews because I’ve been slowly changing over my routine for the colder season. It pretty much happened at the same time and I’ve been spending my money mostly on skincare. And yes, this will be another skincare review but I will soon be writing about some makeup I am currently using in my next post.
Back to skincare, because I work in the beauty industry, people ask me from time to time if they need a separate cream for their eyes. And if they can use their serum or facial cream instead. It’s not a yes or no answer but what I can tell you is if you’re going to use your serum or face cream, here are a few tips to keep in mind.
- The face cream might be too thick and won’t absorb properly
- Serums might not be enough moisture and are usually 3 to 5 times more active than face creams and may irritate the delicate, eye area
- Face creams can also have an active ingredients like retinol or AHA’s that can also irritate the eye area
And that’s why they have separate creams for your eyes. You can definitely use it on the whole eye area including your brow bone and even sometimes the eyelid area. If you do buy an eye cream that does have active ingredients, you should probably just use it under the eye area until you don’t feel any tingling or irritation and then use it around the brow bone.
This eye cream is an eye cream I’ve wanted to try for a while, read on to find out which eye cream I am currently using.
Estée Lauder Nutritious Super Pomegranate Eye Jelly
This eye cream comes from their super pomegranate collection and it’s all about the Mediterranean pomegranate because that is where the main ingredient comes from along with eight potent minerals and vitamins to help combat dehydration, radiance and fine lines. And because it comes in a gel format or jelly as they refer it, it also helps too cool and refresh the skin. It comes in the standard 15 ml jar for eyes and the cost of it is $58.00 so it is not exactly the most affordable, but not insanely expensive either.
So other than the pomegranate that is in it, other ingredients like caffeine to help combat dark circles which I need. There’s also blueberry and cranberry extract which are great anti-oxidants, peony flower extract to help brighten and as well citric acid to help smooth fine lines. I didn’t find any alcohol, parabens and no added fragrance.
I have been using this eye cream for over a month now and I am enjoying it quite a bit. No matter how little or a lot you put on, it quickly absorbs into the skin and there is no problem putting makeup on top of it, because it doesn get in the way of makeup. To be honest, sometimes I do get a bit carried away with how much I put on but it never feels heavy under the eyes. It definitely hydrates my eye area and it feels very nice and cooling on the skin to.
But that being said, I’m not really sure if I see a difference when it comes to looking more awake and I’m not sure if it really helps with my fine lines. I’m also not really sure if it helps to de puff the eye area as well but I will keep using it just see if there is any difference.
At this moment I am just gonna say it is going OK with this eye cream. If you’re looking for an eye cream that helps too hydrate and cool the eye area, plus its alcohol, paraben and fragrance free and you have a few extra bucks to spend, then this is your eye cream. I’ll let you know when I actually finish this eye cream and see if I would totally recommended or not. Until next week my beauties, have a good day!
Tip: applying an eye cream is not hard. You know how you play a piano you tap on the keys or as they say tickle the ivory? That’s how you put on your eye cream, light, tapping motion around the eye area or gently patting the eye area. Never rub your eyes when you’re putting on your eye cream as it may cause irritation.
