Cleansing waters or micelle water or cleanser, however you want to call it, they are the holy grail product in the beauty industry.  Whether you’re a makeup artists for runway shows or a beauty experts in the retail industry, the quickest way to remove makeup is by using a cleansing water.  And as a makeup are as myself, I know other makeup artist who keep a cleansing water in their makeup case because it is so easy to use and it works for just about every skin type out there.

But lately, the last couple months I’ve heard conflicting messages about using one.  Just like facial wipes, you shouldn’t use it alone because it won’t get rid of all the makeup off your face.  If you use a cleansing water but after you wash your face, it may leave a residue that can lead to build up and clog your pores which can make your face congested or break out.  Or it may not be the right cleansing water for your skin type and have ingredients that may cause irritation.

In the last couple years alone, many companies have come out with their version of micelle water.  And it’s not a bad thing because at least you have choices but like any other product where there’s 1000 of the same thing, you just have to be careful of what you choose to put on your skin.

  • Read the label for ingredients that may be harmful to your skin.
  • Choose a cleansing water that is right for your skin type.
  • Do the double cleanse routine.  Pour a cleansing water onto cotton pad, wipe face and then wash with your regular cleanser.
  • If you can’t cleanse your skin twice, again choose a cleansing water that it’s gentle enough that it won’t leave a residue behind and instead leave your skin refreshed and clean.

For years, I’ve been using cleansing waters too remove my eye makeup and my face make up and as well at times when I had allergic reaction to makeup or skincare or when it’s that time of the year and my allergies are acting up, I would soak a cotton pad and lay them on my eyes for few minutes because they really help to relieve the irritation and itching.  The current one that I am using is one that everyone should be using because it’s that good.

Jouviance Hydractiv 4 in 1 Micelle solution

If you don’t know about this company, then you should at least know that it is a Canadian Company.  It is based in Quebec and that this skincare line prides itself on being suitable for sensitive skin but all skin types can choose to use it.  But why is it good for sensitive skin?  Well every single skincare product they have does not contain alcohol, parabens and fragrances.

This four in one cleansing water can definitely be used for everything.  It can be your cleanser, toner, removes makeup including waterproof makeup and it also helps too hydrate the skin.  This micelle solution does not contain alcohol, parabens, fragrances and it is soap free as well.  The cost of this cleansing water is $24.00 and it comes in a 500 ml bottle.  And it comes in a push pump where you place your cotton pad on top of the opening and push it down to soak the cotton pad which is super convenient and easy to use.

My personal opinion on this cleansing water is that it is great.  I mainly use it as a makeup remover before I wash my face.  It does easily remove my face make up quite easily and quickly.  With my eye makeup, if I’m wearing just a simple makeup look like a natural shadow color and mascara, it comes off pretty quickly.  Something a little dramatic with more shadows, eyeliner and mascara, it does come off but it does take a little bit more of the cleansing water to get it off.

Other than that, this cleansing water is ideal for everyone, it is that good.  It feels comforting and refreshing on my face and it doesn’t irritate my eye area.  I don’t use it as a toner at the moment but when it gets colder and I need more hydration, I most likely will use it than as a toner.  Plus the fact that it is a Canadian Company is a bonus.

Thank you for reading my latest post and hope to see you next week with a new one.  Have a good day my beauties!

Tip: makeup is beautiful but not when it’s left on your face and causes problems.  However you cleanse your face, make sure you don’t over wash your face because that too can lead to more issues like overproduction on sebum or irritation and dryness of the skin.  So always, always read the ingredients and make sure it is suitable for your skin.
