Summer time is a beautiful time and also an excuse to wear less makeup and lighter skincare.  At least that’s what it means for me and my skincare routine.  For me, my combination to oily skin enjoys lighter texture like just a serum for night time and a good moisturizing sunscreen for day.  And yes, my skin does get shiny but I still need hydration from my skincare and that’s why I’ve completely stopped using any type of skincare that claims that it will mattify it.  For me personally, when I use skincare that claims to control oils, it just seems to make my skin even shinier and oily a few hours later.  Plus I tend too break out more when I use skincare to help mattify.

Now when it comes to makeup, that’s a whole different story!  I don’t seem to have any issues when it comes to liquid foundations that give you a matte look and powder foundations that not only gives you a matte look but also can give you decent coverage.  I definitely love to wear powder foundation on top of a tinted moisturizer so it stays on, gives me a little bit more coverage and of course a matte finish. So what podwer am I using?

So I’ve been a diehard fan of makeup forever velvet matte powder. Its super silky, smoothes my skin, creates a perfect matte but not flat look. So when it was done, I figured I buy the same one. But enter the one size powder foundation by Patrick Starr.  It’s beautiful package is honestly what attracted me but it also seemed similar to the makeup forever powder foundation so I guess I had to give it a shot and purchase it.  So did this turn up the base foundation do what it said or did it just miss its mark and not worth buying?  Read on for more!

Patrick Starr Turn up the Base Powder in Medium 5G

Turn up the base powder foundation by Patrick Starr

I don’t usually purchase a lot from influencers but I’ve always admired ones who were makeup artists and worked in the beauty industry before they became popular influencers.  That’s what I am mired about Patrick Starr and made me want to purchase Patrick Starr’s powder foundation.

So this powder comes in 32 shades which is pretty great for a small makeup company.  It is $43.00 and it is suppose to stay on for 12 hours, give you medium coverage while leaving a nice, smooth finish. It rice silk powder to create soft texture, dimethicones and mica to blur pores, wrinkles and textured skin. And a triple milled micronized purest pigments to help create seamless color and give its lasting quality. Might I add it does contain talc but it says that its asbestos free and it’s made of highest quality.

Right off the bat, the texture is smooth and not grainy.  When I opened it, I thought it would be too light but as I used my brush to apply it on, it quickly melted into the skin and gave me a smooth and matte finish.  I mainly use this around my eye area to keep my concealer on and it didn’t crease or fall into my lines. It did give me a nice, soft matte finish overall which I love but it didn’t last. What I mean is within a couple of hours, my skin got shiny again. Now it could be because I wear a tinted moisturizer and its very humid. But on cooler days it did last a bit longer in keeping my skin matte.

So this powder did do most of the things it claimed it did. My only thing is that it didn’t last all day because of my oily skin. Im sure for people who have less oilyskin would benefit from that. But I love how nicely it goes on and how silky it feels on my skin. I would definitely recommend it for sure. But my fave is still makeup forever! But this a close second!

I hope you enjoyed this post and have a beautiful day my beauties!
