It’s a beautiful time when it’s the new year, we make a list of goals we want to achieve and even promise yourself to try new things and see new places that we haven’t discovered yet. For me, this year marks three years that I’ve been doing my blog and it’s been so exciting, discovering new skincare products and makeup. And because it’s been three years, my website is going under a little bit of construction and at the moment it seems unfinished, but I will still be posting new blog posts every week as usual. I’m doing this on my own, so bear with me while it’s under construction.
But what better way to start the year than with my obsession with all things lips? Last time when I wrote about lip treatments, it was all about the more affordable lip balms. In this post, these lip balms are a bit pricier, but the better question is do they work? Here are my first reviews of the year!
Lise Waiter hydra force hydro protective lip balm
Makeup wise, their lip glosses are hydrating and comfortable on the lips and a couple of their lipsticks that I’ve tried our moisturizing. This time I ventured into their skincare brand, the hydra force line which has a lip balm that I am currently trying.
At $22.00 and 10 ml, it is a bit of an investment but first let me tell you about this lip balm. It doesn’t have parabens, alcohol or added fragrance. There is a slight, citric fragrance to it but I’m guessing it’s because of the citric oils that are in it. The main ingredient that makes this lip balm so special is called Gaspe algae and that can survive any climate especially severe environment. This particular extract in this lip balm helps to protect your lips from the harsh weather. It also contains omega three and omega six to help moisturize and fortify the lips. Other ingredients to help repair and moisturize lips are Shea butter, mango seed butter, tangerine and orange peel oil.
Sounds like a pretty good lip balm doesn’t it? Well, damn right it is! It is so comfortable and so soothing that I don’t have to apply it on 10 times a day. Once or twice is all I need throughout the day and I can feel my lips being drenched in this very comfortable lip balm. The slanted lip balm applicator helps to spread the balm evenly on your lips and it does have some shine, so you can wear it alone or under your favorite lip product. Even after I sipped on some tea or eaten, I still feel it on my lips so I really don’t need to reapply it on again. And the texture of it is smooth and doesn’t feel tacky or sticky on the lips.
Clinique moisture surge hydra plump lip balm
I’ve never been a huge fan of Clinique because their facial moisturizers tend to feel heavy on my skin and it tends to sit on top of my skin instead of being absorbed. I’ve only tried a couple of skincare products from them and felt that they were good. So how did I do with this one? Let me give you a little bit of background information about this lip balm.
For $23.00 and 10 ml, so pretty much the same price and the exact size as the last one, it comes in a blight pink squeeze tube with a rounded top that glides on the lips. It is fragrance free, paraben free, cruelty free and gluten free but there is alcohol in it, I’m just not sure if it’s a bad one or good one. I really couldn’t find out if it was a good one or not, but let me finish the description of the lip balm before I get in to that. This three main ingredients that make this lip balm work is ceramides, Shea butter and lipids. Also Castor oil, palmitic acid and Murumuru Seed Butter also help to moisturize and protect the lip area.
This lip balm also works very well and I would totally recommend it to. I can’t believe I scored two lip balms that are so similar in how they work, I’m just really relieved that my money was not wasted. This lip balm is also clear and also has a shine to it so it can be worn alone or with your favorite lip product. I don’t have to apply it on multiple times a day and my lips are hydrated and moisturized all day long. And again, even after I eat or drink something, I still feel it on my lips.
And the alcohol that’s in this lip balm doesn seem to bother my lips and it doesn’t seem to dry up the formula but I will like to know if it is a good alcohol or bad one because there are two different types of alcohol found in beauty products and I will like to know which this one falls under. Other than that, this lip balm will very much be in my makeup bag for the colder season.
Both of these lip balms are perfect for the winter season and deftly perfect for my chronic, dry lips. The only concern I have really, is are they actually going to last throughout the winter? Since I don’t have to apply them on as often, they just might but I will definitely let you know if they do.
Thank you for continued to support my blog and since this is my first blog post of 2020, happy new year and I’ll see you on the next post. Have a good day my beauties!
Tip: my first tip for you in 2020, is honestly try everything once especially in makeup. I was pretty stubborn at not using glitter or highlighters, that now they have become a part of my makeup routine. Yet don’t know what you’re missing out until you try it!
