This week, I’m gonna talk about skincare!  The month of December can definitely be quite hectic and quite frankly tiring.  If you’re not working, your shopping and going to Christmas parties and family houses.  You’re busy getting your house fixed up for the season, maybe your even the lucky ones who just says “screw it, I’m going on vacation” just to get away from it all, which by the way, can you take me with you?

But because we’re so busy, our skincare routine can sometimes take a hit and we look at ourselves in the mirror and wonder what happened!  Why does my skin look so dehydrated?  Why do I look so tired?  Although the Christmas season is a great time to celebrate and get together, we tend to drink a little bit more or have that extra sugar cookie and get a little less sleep because you want to hang out with your favorite cousin and eventually it does take a toll on us physically and unfortunately it shows on your face.

On top of having a great concealer and foundation to cover up those dark circles and any imperfections that are cropping up on your skin, you definitely need some skincare that will go the extra mile.  And yes folks, you still need sunscreen in the winter time.  Obviously, it doesn’t have to be anything high, a sunscreen of spf 15 will do.  And you can actually choose the type of sunscreen you want.  There are skincare products that are specifically a sunscreen moisturizer with no added benefits that you will usually use in the summer but there are actual moisturizers with sunscreen that has the added benefits to them.  Read on to find out what my current daily moisturizer is.

Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery spf50

This face moisturizer is both a high sunscreen and a moisturizer that helps too prevent further damage to the skin.  With an spf of 50, it will definitely protect your face but it will also help to repair your skin with white tea which is an antioxidant that helps to fight free radicals in the outside environment.  Plus they have their unique polypeptide which helps to improve the appearance of photo aged skin.  Which means kind of like xray for your skin.  The surface of your skin will look a lot different than what’s happening under the skin.  It can show you signs of sun damage that you can’t see underneath and this moisturizer helps to take care of that damage you can’t see.

This moisturizer is cruelty free, paraben free, alcohol free and no added perfume or dyes.  Because of some of the essential oils they use in this moisturizer, it does have been a strong scent which to me reminds me of bergamot.  It is also a medium moisturizer which it will give you some moisture but it is not too heavy on the skin.  It comes in a 50 ml bottle and the cost of it is $101.

I did start using this moisturizer back in September, but because it was still fairly warm it was making my skin more shiny then I wanted to be.  It did not feel heavy at all and I didn break out from it, but for my oily skin I need something very light.  So I start using it when it got colder and I have been using it for over a month now and I’m glad I kept it because it has done wonders for my skin.  My skin feels very comfortable with it on and my makeup glides on top of it seamlessly.

At first, the scent of the moisturizer was a little overwhelming for me, it was just a bit too strong and eventually it went away.  But after a couple weeks, this scent doesn’t bother me as much because a moisturizer makes my skin feel obviously protected but it makes my skin look brighter, healthier looking and definitely comforted by its moisture from this harsh winter.

I definitely would recommend this moisturizer to anyone who has normal to dry skin.  If you do have combination skin, it can definitely be a little tricky for some of you out there but I have combination skin as well and I am comfortable wearing it in the winter time but when it gets warmer, all probably have to change it up.  But for now I am very much happy with this moisturizer.  It is definitely an investment for your skincare routine but it definitely is worth it.

So let’s toast to the wonderful holidays ahead, have a snowball fight with your friends or family or just bury yourself under a blanket having a cup of hot chocolate while you watch the snowfall outside.  The most important part of the holiday is being with the ones you love and the ones who love you back.  Merry Christmas, happy new year and I will see you right back here in the new year!  Happy holidays my beauties!
