So what does your head, feet and hands have in common? This is where we lose heat first and that’s why we’re told to wear a hat, worn gloves and socks. But I definitely know this by now, because living in Ontario for 38 years and it’s harsh and cold winters, you definitely just to keep warm. By the way, even though I’ve lived here all my life, I do not like the winter and I’ve always dressed warmly.
But to be honest, I never really thought about socks until I was recently gifted three pairs that I still continue to wear to this day, because we still have cold mornings and cooler evenings. I thought my winter boots were warm enough and they are but putting on a pair of these socks with my winter boots made a huge difference. And also where I work, I have to wear dress shoes and I’m near the entrance door and definitely my feet and the rest of me suffer if I don’t dress warmly.
So what’s so special about the socks? Well, Heat Holders originated in England in 1947. And from trading yarn two manufacturing, importing and distributing socks, in 2008, the inventor of these socks David Doughty, after two years of research started selling Heat holders and from there, it took off and has now sold over 20 million pairs of these warm socks. Here is my review of this three pairs of socks I was gifted.
Women’s ultra light socks
These are the pair of socks I used the most because they are thinner than the other two and they fit the best in my dress shoes. They are black with white flowers on them. They may look the same as regular socks but they are a bit thicker and way warmer than the average sock. The inside of each sock including this one is super soft with a specially made bulk yarn to trap heat. There is a type of grading system, thermal overall grade or tog and it goes up to 2.34 which is the warmest socks this company has. These pair of socks have a 1.04 rating. So I was definitely very comfortable wearing them at work and they really kept my feet warm on the cold days. A pair of these socks would cost you $9.99. And
Women’s Lite socks
These pair of socks I wore during walks and running for errands during the day. But especially in the colder temperatures, they held up really well. The color scheme is raspberry and charcoal color and it is a medium thickness and can be worn in boots. I did wear them with my boots and they were a bit snug but wearing them for two or 3 hours straight my feet were just as warm as when I started my day. The tog rating for these pair of socks is 1.60. To be honest, I wore them sometimes at home as slippers because they were so comfy and warm to wear and my feet get cold easily. A pair of these socks would cost you $12.99
Women’s original socks
These are the O G’s of heat holders socks and boy are they warm. We didn’t get many super cold days here but the rare day I had to go out in -15 weather, I brought out these bad boys and dang do they keep you warm! My feet were actually sweating when I took them off after I got home. The tog rating on this pair of socks is 2.34 which is the warmest pair of socks they have. They are definitely chunkier and thick and you could definitely wear these socks when skiing or skating or if you’re going to be outdoors a lot. These pair of socks I wore the most when I was home and used them as slippers. But sometimes my feet got too warm in them but I’d rather have that problem than cold feet. These pair of socks cost $15.99.
Now your wondering why should I pay that much for a pair of socks? Because they are absolutely worth every dollar and the quality of theses socks will last you a very long time. Handwash or put them in the delicate cycle will keep them soft and lasting even longer if you take care of them. And because of our cold winters in Canada, I will definitely be reaching for these over and over again.
