My first blog post of the year. 2020 is behind us and as 2021 starts, well it kind of looks the same. The only difference is that maybe by the end of this year we may not have to wear masks. Which, I would definitely be looking forward to getting rid of. And as well as hugging my friends and family. But for now a lot of us are stuck at home and if you’re like me, really taking care of our skin. Now that we have the extra time, we are focusing on ourselves and so am I. What I am focusing on are my teeth!
Now, why would I be focusing on my teeth when literally no one can see them? Unfortunately, as he get older, your teeth age as well if not taking care of properly. I know it sounds weird but your teeth can change color as you age do to in proper care, diet like drinking a lot of tea or coffee that stain your teeth and that’s where whitening products come in. And because I have sensitive teeth and I’d tend to stay away from them because I had a bad experience where I was whitening my teeth a long time ago and the whitening strips I used left my teeth very sensitive for weeks. After that, I haven’t touched anything whitening for teeth since.
The last year or so, I was using a toothpaste that helped to gently whiten and it helped. But my teeth still needed a boost. Because I drink a lot of tea, unfortunately it can stain my teeth so I was super excited when a company called Hismile reached out to me and asked me if they could send their tooth paste and whitening products so I can review them. They knew that I was someone who would be honest but I wouldn’t be rude if I didn’t like their product. So after 12 years of not using a product that whitens your teeth, I decided to take the plunge and give it a shot. Here it is my review of the tooth paste and the whitening device and gel.
Hismile Day and Night Toothpaste
Why is there a day and night toothpaste? Don’t worry I asked the same thing. They actually do different things. And they actually have different ingredients. The day toothpaste helps too protect the teeth while minimizing stains from food or drinks. Some ingredients include aloe leaf extract,Carnauba wax and hydrated silica that helps too reduce stains.
The night toothpaste helps too gently remove surface stains as well as removes plaque. Some of the ingredients include activated charcoal, bentonite clay and citrus grandis seed extract. You can only order them together for $19.99. Of course it has a mint taste to it and for me they lasted about a month and a half.
My personal opinion on this is that it does help to brighten the teeth gently which I love. I didn’t have any issues with sensitivity and the mint taste was not overwhelming. Although the night toothpaste was a bit off putting, I did get used to it and I am enjoying the results from both of them. I do wish they sold them separately because I did finish the day toothpaste before I finished the night toothpaste.
Hismile Whitening Device and Gel
This whitening kit when you first purchase it is $109.99 in Canadian dollars. After that, you can purchase the gel refills for $39.99 which is six treatments. The whitening kit comes with the LED device and the mouth guard that you put the gel treatment on. It also comes with the gel treatment which is six treatments in three syringes. When you initially do the treatment, you do it six days in a row for 10 minutes a day. You press the button and the LED lights will go on plus there is a 10 minute timer so it will go off by itself. After you are done with the initial six days, you can then maintain your teeth every 2 to 4 weeks depending on your lifestyle. For me, I definitely would have to do it every two weeks because of my tea intake, hehe.
The mouth guard is a one size fits all but after the second and third time, I got used to it. It is super easy to use, as the syringe is pre measure to ¼ for top and bottom of the mouth guard. The ingredients in the actual gel is also very much catered to sensitive teeth. It is peroxide free and the ingredient that helps too whiten teeth PAP which is a safer alternative that won’t damage or cause any harm to the teeth. Potassium nitrate helps too soothe and protect your teeth from sensitivity and pain. Also another ingredient called hydroxyapatite is found in teeth naturally that helps protect the tooth’s outer layer which they have found a synthetic version that is in this gel.
I must say I was very unsure if this would work. It took me awhile to actually start using the device with the gel and even when I used it, I used it every other day. But by the second time I used it I did see a bit of a difference and was also relieved that I didn have any sensitivity to this product. By the end of this six treatments, my teeth were brighter, no sensitivity was experienced and my teeth were two shades lighter.they probably could have been three but I drink a lot of tea!
I am very excited now that I’ve found a system that helps to whiten my teeth but does not irritate them or make them even more sensitive. I would definitely recommend them and I will be purchasing their the refills cause they are so dang good. If you have sensitive teeth like me, I would look into buying this as you wont regret it! Have a good day my beauties!
