Collagen : the most abundant protein in the human body. It is found in bones, muscle tendons and skin. It provides strength and structure within the body.
Collagen is definitely important for our body but why am I talking about it? I always talk about the outside of your body like your skin but what you put inside of your body is just as important to keep you healthy which shows outside on your skin as well. Just like makeup and skincare go hand in hand, your health on the inside go with your skin and how it looks on the outside.
When we’re young, collagen is abundant in our body making our face and skin look plump and radiant looking. That’s because their elastic and tightly bound together but as we get older collagen can get depleted and slacking which means on the outside skin can start looking like its sagging and wrinkles can start to appear. Lack of collagen in the body can also lead to stiffness of the joints and aches and pains and what I didn’t know until I started doing my research was that it can also affect your digestive system.
Now I know when you add collagen into your skincare, what it does for your skin on the outside when you apply it but I wasn’t too educated on how much collagen can affect your body on the inside. I only knew a couple of people who would drink it in powder format and would go on to tell me that it really helps their skin looking bright and plumper which I saw the difference over time. So I was really excited and lucky enough to be contacted from a company called Sproos which is a Canadian Company which I love that makes protein bars and powder that has collagen in them. Read on for more info on this exciting journey I’ve been taking the last couple weeks testing out these products.
Sproos bars with protein and collagen
If you’re going to add supplements to your diet, always do your research on it and ask experts or your Dr. If it is safe. I am in no way an expert on health supplements, this is just my personal experience of having these products. If you want more detailed information about the products I will be reviewing in this post I will give you the link down below for their website.
The two protein bar flavors I received were chocolate almond butter and double chocolate beet. They both contain 14 g of protein and 7 g of collagen. They are gluten free and low in sugar which is pretty cool because I’m trying to keep my sugars low on a daily basis.
We all know I’m a chocolate lover so that definitely got my attention with these bars but for them to be low in sugar is a bonus. I had tried quite a bit of protein bars in the past and although I ate them they were chalky tasting and they felt gritty while chewing them. These bars happened to be chewy, they breakdown easily and definitely easy on my digestive system.
Although it is good to have a meal to keep your energy up throughout the day, once in awhile it gets difficult when you’re busy. So these bars helped me when I knew was going to have a busy day, I pack one of these in my bag and because they are so easy to digest I had no problem eating them.

So I received the powdered collagen in unflavored version and citrus green tea but this one is for hair and skin. The unflavored package is 10g per package and literally you can put this in any cold or hot drink you want. I enjoyed this the most because I usually put it in my smoothie or in my orange juice. And the best part of it is you don’t see it leaving a gritty trail behind. It is fully absorbed and you don’t taste at all which I like because I’m pretty picky on how it tastes. Plus this package only contains 10g of collagen, so you only get collagen in this package and nothing else.
The flavored one, citrus green tea is specifically for the hair and skin and is formulated that way. It has 7g of collagen and also vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, zinc, silica and biotin. These ingredients I do know about because they do help your skin look plump and your hair look healthy and strong.
I received a couple of packets of this one, poured one in to water and didn’t mind the mild, sweet taste. Then I used the second one and poured it into a pomegranate juice and it was delicious! I really did enjoy using the powdered version of collagen because it was super easy to just add into your daily drink that you’re already having.
My experience with this was over the last couple weeks I did see some and feel subtle differences. My skin seemed to have recovered from breakouts a bit faster and my skin looked brighter and overall healthier. And I’m pretty sure that my usual aches and pains that I have after workouts didn’t seem so bad. And my body seemed to recover quicker and I think that is pretty cool considering I went into this being skeptical.
So this has been my first experience using health supplements and it was a success. And I would like to thank this company who let me test out the products {they were great by the way} because these products do work from the inside to make you look great on the outside which I can totally support that. Thank you for reading my post this week and until next week have a good day my beauties!
