Is it really worth investing in a serum or is it just a bunch of bull? Well yes it is definitely worth investing in a serum, but you’re asking a skincare junkie who loves trying anything and everything that will help her skin. It is totally worth investing in a serum because they are 3 to 5 times more effective and plus they go deeper into the skin to help moisturize and repair from within. If you still don’t think it’s worth it, read on for some more of my serum story.
To be honest it hasn’t been that long since I actually incorporated a serum into my daily routine. When I first star using serums I only use them when I got chemical peels or did peels at home. Because peels can be drying and strip some of the moisture out of your skin, I thought maybe using a serum and my moisturizer would do the trick. And it did and I only used it for those occasions. I did try using a serum and moisturizer together but at the time I just felt uncomfortable and it felt ill too heavy on my skin but I’d didn’t break out, I just am like the feeling of both products on my face at the time.
But the last couple winters, I’ve been consistently using it with my moisturizer at night. I do see and feel a difference in my skin and now that I have more ivy combination skin in the winter time I’m able to apply a serum and a light moisturizer without it feeling heavy or uncomfortable on my face. The ones that I’m really into right now are serums that are hydrating and brighten the skin. I currently use a serum only at night because my face still gets fairly shiny when just wearing a moisturizer with sunscreen during the day. But as it gets closer to winter which the air is very dry and our winters are unfortunately long, it probably wouldn’t hurt for me to try and see if I could use it during the day.
Guerlain Super Aqua Serum
Now I’ve had the pleasure to use a few products from their skincare line and I’ve never been unsatisfied with the few skincare products I’ve used so far from Guerlain but I’ve used many of their makeup products as well and I’ve loved them all. It’s not every day that I purchased something from this line because the price tag is a bit steep but what you’re getting is very much worth it because they work and the colors are stunning whether its makeup or skincare.
Especially their super Aqua skincare line which when I worked with the Guerlain line, this collection was a big seller in our store. You see we had a lot of clients who traveled a lot including flight attendants who needed something to keep their skin hydrated throughout their flight. Through word of mouth and simple Ing it to the clients who then came back and bought a bottle because they noticed the difference when using this. So now that I have dehydrated skin, I’m finally getting to using this and revealing it.
So they do have two different serums in this collection, one is the regular serum and the other one is the light texture serum. There is a big difference when you feel the two together side by side so I chose the lighter texture one so I could put it under my moisturizer and it wouldn’t feel heavy. Not only does it hydrate but it also helps too plump up the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Their website also says that it also hydrates for 30 hours, but the most I’ve used it for before I wash my face was about 12 hours and my skin still felt hydrated and moisturized. If I had it on any longer all let you know what my results are but until then I can only say after 12 hours my skin felt hydrated and looked awake.
Because our skin goes through a lot in one day, our skin gets dehydrated and polluted on a more cellular level. Filled their research has created aqua complex that helps to deliver purified water to the cells to help repair and hydrate your skin deep within giving you a more hydrated feeling and also plumping the skin to reduce the wrinkles. It is also alcohol and paraben free.
My personal opinion on the serum is that it works very well for my skin. I love the light scent it has, not too heavy but just right. I love how late the texture is and melts into the skin quickly and I love how my skin feels because it feels very soft and how looks because it looks refreshed and awake. I do feel a difference when the next day I wake up and my skin still feels very hydrated and less fatigued looking. I did do a test of just using my night moisturizer only for week and then using this serum with my name moisturizer and I can tell a big difference was noticed.
I have an used a lot of serum so far but I can play this is one of the best ones I’ve used so far. But at a whopping $162 for a 30ml it is going to be an investment in your skincare routine for sure. Why is it so expensive? It’s not just the packaging alone but it’s also the research and development behind the product and the ingredients that they use that you most likely won’t see and any other skincare products. But because I’ve used quite a bit of products from this brand, I’ve come to trust them and I know that whenever I do purchase in the future I will be let down.
Investing in your skincare routine I believe is a definite, but you have two also make sure it fits within your budget and also doing a research behind the brand and the products is always something I believe everyone should do when you’re really investing in your skincare routine. Until next week my beauties have a good day!
Tip: if you haven’t invested in a serum, here’s a little bit more info as to why you should. Because the molecules are smaller than your everyday moisturizer, it can penetrate deeper into the skin and keep your skin more moisturized then your face cream. Plus with the serum being 3 to 5 times more active than that your moisturizer, you will get better results than just using your moisturizer by itself.
