When I first started getting into makeup, one of my very first purchase was a lipstick. I remember buying a wet and wild lipstick (because they are like $2.00) and later on in high school I would buy a Revlon lipstick in the color coffee bean. I felt like I was a grownup because I had my own makeup, especially a lipstick! Whenever I applied it, that’s just how I felt like a grown up and I guess now, in a way the feeling really hasn’t changed. Yes I am an adult, but I still feel that way.
Years after that in college, that’s when the lip gloss craze came in and I’ve loved those even more because they were super easy to use and very shiny of course and when your in college, you want something easy to put on and you’re out the door. And when I got into the beauty industry I experimented with both lipstick and glosses but I stuck to lip glosses and very few moisturizing lipsticks because I found out that my lips were always dry and always needed moisture.
But the last couple years many companies have come out with mat lipsticks and to be quite honest I stayed away from them. Even when I tried a few of them, they just felt too dry on my lips or they would fall in my cracks on my lips to make them look even dryer if that’s possible and I just didn’t like the way it looked on my lips and I would end up adding a gloss to liven my look up.
Now that there’s so many companies coming out with a matte lipstick, there happens to be formulas that are more comfortable and even moisturizing! So far I found a couple companies that have matte lipsticks that I actually love. And one of those companies is a Canadian Company that reached out to me so that I could try one of their matte lipsticks that has recently launched. Are they worth using? Urban Minerals Lip Essentials In Vibin Violet
When I first opened up this package, the first thing that came to mind was how beautiful this packaging was. It looks like it came from a high end beauty line, but does the contents inside it make your lips look amazing? Plus with a $30.00 price tag, you hope this lipstick will do more than just look good in the tube.
So let me tell you a little bit about this indie makeup brand based in the G.T.A so it’s definitely Canadian! This lipstick is vegan, gluten free, cruelty free, plant based and reiki infused. What a great lipstick so far right? And for people who don’t know what reiki is, let me give you a brief explanation. The use of reiki is a positive, Japanese healing energy that helps to connect to our heart chakras. So urban minerals has infused this lipstick with basically positive energy so when you apply this lipstick on, you’ll be infused with positive energy. Now who doesn’t want to start their day with a positive note?
So what’s not in it? No alcohol, artificial color, fragrance, filler or parabens. And just in case you didn’t think it could be any safer they also have no petrochemicals, sulphates and phthalates. They do emphasize that they get ingredients locally and they want their makeup products to take care of your skin as well as enhance your beauty.
This lipstick has Candelilla wax, rosemary extract, vitamin C and sunflower seed oil to help moisturize and nourish the lips. It does have a matte finish and the formula is suppose to be creamy and flexible on the lips.
So what do I think about it? It is one of the few matte lipsticks that I am enjoying quite a bit. Its creamy, it’s moisturizing and yes it is matte. It is not long lasting but I’d don’t have to reapply it until after I have even something but even then it’s just a touch up. When I first saw it in the tube, it looked dark but when I applied it, it totally looked different on my lips and it looked brighter. For a lipstick that is vegan and has no artificial colors, this lipstick is fully loaded with color pigment. A couple swipes and you’re out the door, plus the color is pretty bold I really don’t have to bother reapplying it as much throughout the day. I used it for about a week straight and after applying it in the morning, I only really applied it once throughout the day that’s how good the pigment is in this lipstick.
I would 100% totally recommend this lipstick because it feels comfortable on my dry lips and because of my chronic dry lips, I have to be picky at what I wear. It also helps that it is a Canadian company and it should definitely be supported. I will put the link of the website down below so you can check them out and hopefully fall in love with them as much as I have. Have a good day my beauties and I’ll see you next week!
