All skin types need hydration.  Oily, dry, acne prone, super sensitive and everything in between need hydration.  When I was in my teens, we didn’t have a lot of choices and skincare and me having oily, acne prone skin, a lot of products geared towards my skin type were absolutely terrible.  It was all about drying the skin and getting rid of the oil or sebum.  Now, the story is changing and we’re realizing that drying out the skin with unnecessary, harsh products is not the way to beautiful and hydrated skin.

But I didn’t realize how much problems I caused myself by using products that wasn’t good for me.  It wouldn’t be until my mid twenties that I finally started incorporating light but hydrating serums or cream.  Now, I can’t live without them and my skin is better for it.  Plus, for the most part unless I’m having a reaction to skincare which is rare, I know why my skin is breaking out.  And these days there is so many choices and textures that will literally fit every skin type there is.  There are so many choices out there today which is great but it can also be difficult to choose.

As I told you before in my mid twenties, I started using serums.  Serums are definitely much thinner and sink into the skin better plus they are usually 3 to 5 times more potent than a facial cream.  The molecules in a serum tend to be much smaller and therefore they can go into the skin a bit deeper than a cream.  And you can also layer them with other products like a oils or creams.  So I started with a hydrating serum which for me back then was perfect for my oily skin.  Now that I’m much older, in the winter I can use a serum and a light weight cream.  But in this article, the serum is the star that I will be talking about and reviewing.  Read on for more.

Vichy mineral 89 booster and serum

This Vichy serum comes in two sizes.  50 ml for $41.95 and 75 ml for $51.95.  This serum only contains 11 ingredients, two of them being 89% of the Vichy volcanic water and natural origin hyaluronic acid.  It is fragrance free, paraben free, alcohol free and as well it is non sticky and oil free.  All skin types can use this product including oily skin and sensitive skin. It helps to fortify, strengthen and protect skin from external pollution and keep it hydrated. The volcanic water is also known to be soothing and healing for the skin because of the minerals found in the water.

I use the serum in my night routine when I use my glycolic acid moisturizer.  This serum works wonders at keeping my skin hydrated and feeling comfortable.  The last couple years, using a glycolic acid moisturizer by itself and every evening would leave my skin feeling pretty tight and dehydrated.  So by adding a serum like this really keeps it in balance.  Plus, I really do love that it has no fragrance and alcohol.  It is such a simple serum and with little ingredients, I feel very comfortable knowing I’m using a serum that does its job and does it well.

I only started using this serum in the winter months which I find is helping my skin.  I do use my glycolic acid cream every other day and when I’m not using it, I just use this by itself and I’m comfortable with it  because I have combination skin.  But definitely if your using something that has an active ingredient like retinol or glycolic acid, this would be a perfect product to keep your skin hydrated and protected from getting dry and dehydrated.

Do you use a serum? If not, definitely look into it because even someone who has oily skin can use something like this because it’s super light and absorbs quickly. Its so weightless that you won’t feel a thing. I hope you have enjoyed my latest post. Have a good week and I’ll see you soon.
