Back of Pat Mcgrath Palette with names

When it comes to makeup, the few staples that I have and always use on an almost daily basis is foundation, concealer, powder, a gloss and mascara.  I’m not really into eyeshadows because I’ve always had a palette with colors I barely touched.  And I always thought it was a waste of money, which to this day I still think they are.

But this year, I’ve bought the most eye shadow palettes and owned the most eye shadow palettes so far.  I’ve bought three eye palettes that I absolutely love and this last one that I’ve added to my collection is one I wanted to experience.  I’m sure many of you makeup junkies out there know and have experienced pat Mcgrath eye shadows.  Me on the other hand, haven’t had a an experience with her eye shadows because they were just insanely expensive!

I’ve used eyeshadows from all different Brands like Dior, Guerlain or makeup forever and they don’t have a huge price tag of $170 on their eye shadows and they are just as good.  And they have been around longer than pat Mcgrath.  So when I saw her latest limited edition collection including an 18 pan eye shadow palette at $103 CAD, it’s still expensive but you get more colors than her regular 10 pan eye shadow palettes.  So, I gave in to all the good words I’ve heard and bought the damn eye shadow palette. BTW this is the most expensive eye shadow palette I’ve ever owned and here is my honest review.

Pat Mcgrath Limited Edition Celestial Divinity 18 Pan Eyeshadow Palette

As you know, this eye shadow palette is $103CAD with 18 pans of color.  Three of them are matte while 15 are a combination of shimmer, iridescent and glitter eye shadows.  Colors like violet void, smoked amethyst and odyssey have beautiful glitter in them.  Other colors like bronze, corruption and fuchsia shock are a soft metallic.  And the three mats, and major mahogany, Venetian orchid and venomous void range from a soft rose color too a berry and mahogany color which can be blended with the more out there eyeshadows.

To be honest, I really enjoy using this eye palette.  I love the metallic colors because you can pack on these colors lightly to get a soft iridescent look or pack it on heavy and have major drama.  The ones I was surprised with were the ones with the glitter because they actually stayed on and didn’t fall off my eyelid.  Even when I put the glitter eye shadow on, they didn’t fall on to my cheek like other ones do.

I know there are some makeup junkies out there who are complaining about how there is only 3 mattes colors to work with and 15 metallic, iridescent and glitter shades but I honestly don’t find it a problem and you can find matte eyeshadows anywhere and everywhere but good, shimmer shadows especially ones that wont go ashy on darker skin tones or there isn’t enough color in them is not super easy to find. So, yeah I’m gonna enjoy this palette and enjoy all the shimmer and glitter it has to offer!

It has a beautiful, big mirror to work with and I do love how the package looks visually. But the actual package itself is kind of plastic and flimsy and wish it was a more a durable material like a hard plactic cover or because it’s a holiday type collection, maybe velvet? But as long as the product is doing its job which it is, it will definitely get use out of it.
