Every makeup junkie has their way of choosing what makeup product would end up in their collection, which to me can be very exciting.  But because of the endless launches of makeup from giants like Dior and Guerlain, to indie makeup companies like MGS accessories (gifted me long lasting lipstick) and Tatideauty.  Going through this labyrinth of makeup products can definitely be overwhelming.

Because there’s so many choices out there, it’s good that you can rely on social media, friends and even your favorite makeup influencers can help you pick and choose what you want to get next.  It’s even better when you get contacted by companies that will be willing to send you over a freebie to try out makeup.  At least that’s how I’ve come to discover some makeup Brands over the years.

I love makeup like everyone else who is reading this.  Like foundation and concealer, I love how it hides my dark circles and evens out my skin.  Lip balms, glosses, lip anything, I can’t live without.  I even love how mascara lengthens my lashes.  But what I do absolutely love is eyeshadows that can easily add a pop of color to your eyes.  For years, I rarely bought eye shadow palettes because it was just frustrating that I wasn’t using them up.  So I bought mostly single eyeshadows in my favorite colors so I could just mix and match, but mainly I would feel satisfied that I could finish them.

But the last couple years, there have been many eye shadow palettes that have come out that have been too pretty to pass up.  So I have slowly and very methodically picked out palettes that I will for sure use most of them if not all the eyeshadow colors.  And I don’t mind spending a little bit of money as long as they go on smoothly and the pigment is there.  But it sure is exciting when you find an eye shadow palette that is affordable and just as good as the expensive ones.

So I was pretty lucky when I was gifted an eye shadow palette from Catrice cosmetics that I’ve heard in the past was pretty good but I don’t know their makeup collection and don’t know much about the company.  But an eye shadow palette is a good place to start to see if I want to explore their line any further.  Here is my review of their eye shadow palette.

Catrice basic bae eye shadow palette

Let me tell you a little bit about this company first.  It launched in 2004 in Germany.  In 2015 it came over to the U.S.  And then finally to Canada.  It was founded by a group of women who wanted makeup that all be affordable but doesn skip out on the quality.  From what I can read about them, their top selling products are there foundation and their full coverage concealer that has been a hit.

This year they launched three eye shadow palettes ranging from nudes to colorful and pigmented.  In each eye shadow palette, there is our range of 12 shadows matte and metallic to get you any look you want.  The price for each one is $16.99 Canadian dollars.  The one that I was gifted is called basic bae which contain more of the neutral colors.  And plus they are cruelty free and anyone who works alongside with the company is also cruelty free.

So as I said before this is my first time trying anything from this brand and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.  Normally some a drug mart eye shadow palettes can be a miss for me because of my skin tone.  Sometimes the pigment is in strong enough or the metallic colors can be either a bit too chunky and they don’t spread well or they end up ashy looking but or the metallic color is not bright enough that they kinda end up looking lighter than the color you see in the pan.

When i swatched these eyeshadows, just a light touch is all you need to get beautiful pigment.  Some of these eyeshadows are pretty soft and smooth, but all eyeshadows are definitely rich in pigment.  The eyeshadows are more on the nude side where you can go from a light, natural look to a more smoky look if you wanted to.  I have been using this eye shadow palette for the last few weeks and I’ve created multiple looks that easy to do.

I don’t really purchase a lot of eye shadow palettes, but of the few drug store ones I have, this is the best one I have so far.  Because it is so easy to work with and blending the eyeshadows together is pretty easy.  There hasn’t been a lot of kickback when I dip into the pan which is good.  The quality of this eye shadow palette really surprised me and because of that, this eye shadow palette could go up against a lot of the more expensive ones and it wouldn’t be embarrassing.  That’s how good I think this eye shadow palette is.

I’m also basing this on my skin tone because I’m used to buying the more expensive Brands because I know I will get the pigment out of it plus how it wears and blends is also a factor.  The fact that this eye shadow palette is only $16.99 and I get all this, I would deftly recommend it.  Who doesn’t want makeup that is affordable and gives you everything you need just as well as the expensive Brands?

I’ve already started exploring their makeup collection because I was so happy with this eye shadow palette that I did our recent purchase and I actually bought one of their mascaras to try out.  Yep, that’s how I really like them.  I normally don’t just jump in to brands like this but because I was impressed by this eye shadow palette I just had to discover more of this brand.

What is the latest brand you’ve discovered that you love currently?  Thank you for reading my latest post this week and I hope to see you next week for more.  Have a good day my beauties!

Tip: experiment with eyeshadow colors.  Years ago, there used to be eye shadow palettes that were fit for eye colors and yes they are helpful but they were definitely restricting.  I’m not sure if those are still out there but I encourage you to test out colors that you thought were not going to go with your eye color or skin tone.  Jump into the bright, colorful pool of colors and see what you discover on the other side! I know I have recently been doing that and its been an amazing journey this far. And besides it does come off, so don’t be shy!
