loreal mask

I love masks!  I’ve loved them ever since I put my very first mask on any years ago especially clay masks that can handle my oily skin, large pores and breakouts which unfortunately til this day I still get them even at my age.  But because of my oily skin, I just love the instant results you get from them.  Large pores look smaller, skin is matte and fresh looking, breakouts are definitely smaller the next day and I just love relaxing with the mask on while you’re having tea or reading your favorite book.

Masks for me is so natural to me to do every week that when my husband and I moved in together, it took a while getting used to walking around the house with one on.  But eventually he got used to it and the many masks I’ve worn since.  But that’s how much I’ve loved doing them, I’d didn’t care if it might bother him or what his reaction would be and just moving in together can be very stressful and me doing a mask helped me relax.  Needless to say he has accepted my ever changing skincare routine including those masks.

Moving back to talking about clay masks, it is now warmer weather here in Toronto so it will be that time to switch from my hydrating and moisturizing masks to a clay mask that I will be using all summer long to keep my pores smaller and shine free as much as possible.  But this time around I’m going for one that will make my skin feel uncomfortable and tight.  So the one I chose to review today is the L’oreal clay mask made for purifying and keep skin mat, here is my review on this mask.

L’oreal a clay mask for purifying and mattifying

I’ve used clay masks and ever since I can remember but all of them has always been ones that dry up and when you wash your face your skin feels tight and uncomfortable but those types of masks gave me a deep cleanse, minimize my pores and kept my skin mat.  But now into my mid-thirties, my skin still gets oily and a clay mask is the only thing that can solve it.

But I need a clay mask that can dry out the impurities and keep my skin mat all the while keeping the balance of my skin comfortable.  So I chose this mask because I kept reading online that not only does it shrink your pores and keep your skin mat it doesn’t feel uncomfortable or feel tight on the skin when it’s drying on the face and even after you wash it off your skin still feels comfortable and refreshed.

This mask contains three different clays, kaolin, montmorillonite and Moroccan lava clay.  All of which that helped to gently refine pores and remove makeup and dirt.  They also added eucalyptus and citric acid to help remove dead skin cells and help hydrate.  There isn’t a whole lot of ingredients in this mask which is great because less is more but the smell is a bit strong.  To me personally it smells like a very strong soap with too much perfume added to it, but at least when you wash it off it doesn’t linger.  It is light green in color, it goes on easily on the skin and it doesn’t drip.  I left it on for about 15 to 20 minutes each time I used it and it washed off fairly easy.

My personal opinion on this mask is that it works!  It gives me the perfect balance of keeping my face matte but doesn’t make my skin feel dehydrated after I wash my face.  My face does look brighter, pores look smaller but the most important thing is my face looks matte.  This mask does the job I needed to without breaking the bank at only $17.99 it definitely is a great buy.  I would definitely recommend this mask to anyone who has combination to oily skin.

So while the weather keeps getting warmer and the days are longer, I’ll be masking way trying to keep my oily skin at bay.  Till next week have a good day my beauties!

Tip: Use a mask too spot treat any breakouts that are happening on your face.  Do this every day for about 3 to 4 days or until you see the break out has grown smaller or gone entirely.
