lip balm

I know when the fall and winter season is coming I stock up on lip balms.  A lot of them!  I have one at home, one in my purse, one in my makeup bag and I even leave one at work.  My lips are dry as it is but in the winter time they get even worse and if I don’t stay on top of it my lips can start cracking and I get that awful burning feeling like you licked your lips too much.  So that’s why I’m pretty obsessed with finding decent lip balms I can use during the colder season.

I usually just stick to lip gloss because they are definitely more moisturizing than a lot of lipsticks and I love the amount of pigment it gives you as well, not too much not too little and which is perfect for me.  But during the warmer months I can wear lipsticks because my lips aren’t much of a problem but in the fall and winter if I’d try wearing a lipstick, by mid day I’m switching it back to a lip gloss because my lips are getting dry and sometimes depending on the lipstick it can show all the cracks and dry places on my lips.

So to keep my lips moisturized and healthy looking by using a lip scrub when I need it and basically applying a lip balm generously to keep my lips hydrated.  But if I can find a lip balm that even after I eat or drink and I can still feel it that means I found a good one and it’s actually working.  Well I think I may have found not only a lip balm but a lip scrub from the same company that keep my lips in check.  And guess what?  It’s a Canadian Company right here in Toronto!  Read on for my full review on these two products I am currently using.

The Good Soak lip balms in strawberry and expresso

I always like looking for new lip balms that I’ve never tried before but this company the good soak that’s based in Toronto caught my eye and I started following them almost a year ago and they started following me as well on Instagram and after finishing up all my lip balms I had, I was finally able to order these lip balms and lip scrub.  I know it sounds weird but I was actually excited to use them because they’re made right here in the city I live in and also hoping that they will work to.

At only $6.00 each they are very affordable and the fact that they are cruelty free, paraben free, alcohol free basically chemical free, it is worth every dollar.  The strawberry lip balm is moisturizing with Shea butter and cocoa butter but it also feet was a bit different than the expresso one.  It also has tiny, pink beads to help exfoliate and prime lips so it feels a bit tougher.  Not that it feels rough on the lips but you can definitely feel a difference between the expresso lip balm and strawberry one.  So this is the one that I use during the day to keep my lips flake free and ready to apply my lip gloss.

The expresso lip balm on the other hand is a very useful and I use it explosively only at night time to keep my lips moisturized.  I most likely will switch to using it during the day as it gets colder ‘cause it is very hydrating on the lips.  Similar ingredients to the strawberry lip balm if like cocoa butter and beeswax it also has wheat germ oil and jojoba oil it gives you the extra moisture you need.

They both do have pleasant scents but you know me I like my products without a scent but they are light enough and I don’t smell it all day and definitely doesn’t linger.  I definitely would recommend these lip balms because they are so good, they’re made right here in Toronto and they are super affordable as well.  And with me always saturate my lips with something in me running out all the time of lip balms, these seem to be lasting quite a bit.  I’ve been using them for a month now and there not even half done ‘cause I don’t have to use much.

Strawberry lip scrub

This is my first time purchasing a lip scrub of any kind so I bought the scrub to experience what other beauty bloggers and skincare junkies like me are so obsessed with using a lip scrub.  I’m not sure about any other lip scrub but this one is safe enough that they tell you after you scrub the lips you can lick the scrub off yourself.  It’s pretty cool that the company says that ‘cause what other lip scrub can you lick off and not have to worry what is in it?

At only $6.50 it is still very affordable and comes in a aluminum tin.  The ingredients are super simple and contain jojoba oil, strawberry extract granulated sugar and some fragrance and flavoring to add to the whole experience.  It’s that simple and there’s nothing complicated a ball using this scrub as I would assume like every other lip scrub that is out there.

I just dip my finger into the scrub and apply a small amount on my lips, but before I actually scrub the dead skin cells off I leave it there for few minutes to soak on my lips and then gently rub it off with my finger.  And like the company says, I lick it off and I’m done.  When my lips are drier than normal I will scrub my lips every other day or maybe twice a week if I need it.

This lip scrub had me sold when it said you could just basically eat it off your lips.  So I definitely highly recommend this lip scrub ‘cause it does soften my lips and also helps to moisturize as well.  Also this is cruelty free, paraben free and as well alcohol free just in case you needed to know.

Thank you for reading this article and I hope to see you here again next week with a brand new post and products.  Have a good week my beauties!

Tip: tried to lick your lips as little as possible, it actually makes your lips drier and if you constantly do it, it can lead to cracked and redness around the lip area which doesn’t look great and also hurts to.
