I’m sure some of you, like me have been uninspired in doing creative, makeup looks during this weird and crazy time. When I go out or go to work my inspiration starts with how I feel the day. If I’m moody, I’d tend to go a more natural or that no makeup look. If I’m sunny and in a good mood, I love adding sparkle or a touch of bright eye shadow because that’s how I feel. And when I’m going out, I love to add a little glam like a blinding highlighter or gorgeous false lashes popped up with heavy liquid eyeliner. But these days, I’m only going grocery shopping and I don’t think a full face of makeup is needed. But then again, why not? Other than work, it’s the only place I’m going to, so why not add the blinding highlighter, false lashes and liquid liner? Considering that’s all you can see on my face these days. (Sighs)
But even at work I have to wear a mask, so the only thing you can see on me are my eyes, brows and forehead. So what is a makeup junkie got to do to feel inspired to do her own makeup? By an eye shadow palette to get me inspired, at least that’s what I did! I did find an eye shadow palette last summer and I did love it. But summer was coming to an end here in Ontario and I love fall colors so I decided to hold out for next summer.
Fast forward to this march, I was purchasing some new spring/summer makeup and I finally bought the urban decay naked palette in honey. Yes, this was the perfect palette to inspire me to start creating looks and help me get out of my slump. Here is my review of it.
Urban decay naked honey eye shadow palette
For $68.00, you get 12 shades in this eye palette. Ranging from nudes to copper and gold shadows, you can mix them up to give yourself a natural, a day look to a more sultry and definitely summer look. This honey eye palette has your standard nude matte, shimmer and metallic colors. It also contains dual ended brush that can help you pack on the color and blend. This eye shadow palette is also cruelty free, paraben free, alcohol free and perfume free.
When I first saw the packaging, it obviously caught my attention. I do love the color of it but it seems a little clunky and a bit bigger than I thought. But it’s what inside that counts right? And damn, these colors blew me away and it was just what I was looking for. The ones that really caught my attention were the metallic which are called amber, golden, honey and queen. These were the perfect copper and gold colors I was looking for to add to my collection. They go on so smooth and a little bit goes a long way, plus I’ve even use them as a highlighter because I like how golden and honey look.
The more nude colors like keeper, hive, drip and sting are perfect for a day look and if you want to add a pop of color onto your look, the metallic shadows are definitely going to add that. The blend ability of the shadows are pretty good and when you’re working with matte colors, you definitely want it to blend and transition nicely with other shadows. With the metallic colors, I prefer to use my finger to pack it on so I can get more color because when I use my brush, I have to keep dipping into the metallic colors to get the payoff I want but its good you can build it up from soft to extra AF.
I definitely would recommend this eye palette even for women who have darker skintones, it would look gorgeous on them. As a woman of color, it hasn’t been easy to find eye shadow palettes that I could readily use. Some colors would be okay, but others looked ashy or even white on my brown skin. This nude, copper and gold palette is beautiful and all colors are perfect on my skintone. I love this palette and this is going to be my summer go to, even if I’m indoors most of it. (Sighs)
Hope you enjoyed my article, hope to see you nextweek. Have a good day my beauties!
