how do you get the perfect eye makeup look?  It’s all about the blending.  Now how do you get it to stay on all day/night?  It’s definitely all about that base!  I mean, do you really want that beautiful makeup look you just did to be creased and flaking in a few hours?  Well, before I even knew eye primers existed, this was sadly the case.

When I was a teen I was big on eyeliner and mascara only but when I hit college age, I started getting into eyeshadows but only when I was going out.  Like when we hit the clubs, my makeup would be snatched and flawless when we arrived.  But after a few hours of sweating and dancing and just having a damn good time, I didn’t care how I looked but my eye makeup was definitely fading or creased.  That’s when I wished I had something to keep my look flawless.

As I entered into the beauty industry and wearing makeup was a must, I have to find something, anything to keep my makeup looking flawless.  I’m not sure how I came across my first purchase of an eye primer but when I bought it, it was the magical liquid that I wished I had like forever!  It was my holy grail of eye primers.  It was the makeup forever eye seal that is still my go too and one that I always compared to any other new ones that I’ve purchased.

But as the years have passed, more and more makeup companies have come out with their version of an eye primer.  Some of them I question as to why they exist and some, I’m like damn this is good!  And because of my ever curious nature and makeup junkie that I am, I need to try them all!  Not literally!  But you know what I’m saying!

This year, I wanted to try some cult favorites in the makeup world.  Makeup that is the holy grail of all makeup and for the most part, the majority of makeup junkies like me love these products.  So I finally broke down and bought the urban decay eye primer that everyone can’t stop talking about.  Why is it so good?  Why do makeup lovers rave about this eye primer?  Read on for my opinion on this eye primer.

Urban Decay Eye Potion Primer

For $32.00, you get a10ml bottle that is paraben free, alcohol free, fragrance free and cruelty free.  I couldn’t exactly find when it actually launched but in 2015, it changed its design and added more colors to its collection.  There is the Eden which helps to reduce redness, caffeine which is for darker skin tones and a free base one that helps too brighten your eyeshadows.  The most important reason why this is so popular is that it’s supposed to last 24 hours without creasing, flaking or fading away.

I’ve been using this product now for a month and I have to say I love this formula!  I purchased the original formula which is a creamy texture and it does have a tint of color but when I put it on, it totally disappears which I absolutely love.  They also say the original formula is perfect for all skin tones which I can see.

I usually take the wand that comes with the product and dotted on my eyelid and use a eyeshadow sponge to help spread it.  It does feel slightly tacky but that’s the best way to apply your eye shadow so it grabs the pigment and locks it in place.  The longest I’ve worn it for is about 10 hours and my eye look was as beautiful as when I first applied it.  I did not see any creasing, it did not flake and the color of the eyeshadow did not seem too look faded.  The packaging is definitely cute and fun but as much as I’d get sucked in with the packaging, it does have to work.  Which this product does work!

For $32.00, it is a bit pricey but I understand why.  It is one of the best-selling eye primers out there and it does work and live up to its expectations so I could see myself buying this product again and maybe trying the different ones they have in this eye primer collection.  But I do love the original formula because it disappears on the skin which I prefer my eye primers to be.  How do you like your eye primer?  Let me know. Enjoy your day my beauties!

Tip: If you don’t have an actual eye primer, use a concealer that is not too creamy, let it dry for a few seconds but don’t let it dry down too much just enough that the eyeshadow can adhere to it. Powder is a no no as it can cause creasing within hours.
